Buckster thanks, finnishing it soon, still needs pollishing, mainly on the arms, and the background.
Jedininjaman hey there, thanks for dropping by!
Some sketches done today.. I know, been slacking.. I tend to get stuck in bigger projects and skip the educational part of drawing
updated troll.. and some environment speedpaints I also found a site called posemaniacs. It's really great.. been doing 5 pages of 30 second sketches from there... but they all suck so hard I won't be posting them lol.
All I have to say is that I really liked the creature sketch on the last page, I think the name of it was creature 7, thats what it said when I put the arrow over it. It looked a bit like a stingray crossed with a fish with spikes and maybe eaven a shellish surface on top. Very nice.
The picture "Flamewielder" also struck me as well done. And this troll shaman you've just made is awsome. The lightning and brushstrokes on the antlers on the animal skull above the figure is fascinating. I think there is litle space in it though, it seems a bit flat, not the skull, but the front figure, and the picture as a whole. But that's all I can think of.
Since I can see a fair amount of improvement from the old images to the new, I'm not going to add any major crits.
Just keep drawing from life and reference when possible, and have fun.
Looking forward to seeing more improvements.
my sketches here... http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92997
www.sevans.co.nz , visit them or a puppy dies!
Thanks a bunch.
Noire glad you like them. Creature 7 is my favorite aswell, I had planned on doing more, but it just didn't happen ^^
I agree with you on the troll part. Lesson learnd for next pic
SEVANS thanks man! having fun is what it's all about... and hard work. combining both = priceless
Here are some thoughts on this week's c.o.w. "Unicorn hunter"

Really kickass thumb! The last one must be finished, try to give the best!

Clanlord thanks man! I did what I could to finnish it on time, allthough I didn't have time to add the unicorn I think it turned out better
HumanNature6115 thanks man, will do my best.
Progress of c.o.w 119. Unicorn Hunter... The reason why I don't have more wip's until final is because I forgot to save wip's.. was so focused on finnishing on time. Turns out I had enough time lol, anyway. Experimental progress, first time I play around with overlay and multiply layers.. (Aha! so that's how all the pro's get their images to look so cool! )

you have some crazy cool monster designs in here and I really love the lines in your sketches (and the face of the troll shaman looks amazing). it's really inspiring to see this level of improvement. hope to see more!
What an overwhelming lesson to all artists! Be not afraid of absurdity; do not shrink from the fantastic. Within a dilemma, choose the most unheard-of, the most dangerous, solution. Be brave, be brave! - Isak Dinesen
Gutss thanks a bunch!
I said to myself I'd keep this updated frequently, and yet I fail miserably. I draw everyday though .. yea..
here's some chow sketches, and DSG 1391 sketch.
Grrrreat stuff man, I love your style. Keep working!
Hey there people! I've now realised how much anatomy studies pays off! These past weeks I've tried to do atleast 2 pages every day, and I really feel I know the body much better.
The following sketch is of the theme 'Divine Entities' and I didn't use any ref for it. I know the characters have a very long torso, and that's only to make them appear as something else than human, something more.
Also my CHOW piece which I didn't get to finnish. Though I'll try to work get it done some day soon
some awesome stuff in here man, and some major improvement with your color choices and schemes. it's nice to see some solid figure studies in there.... your creatures are very dynamic and full of energy, but your human and humanoid figures tend to get a little stiff. i have the same problem though, and get pinned for it in classes a lot.
keep up the great work, hope to see a lot more.
Mr Blackbird - Thank you for your kind words! Yea.. I have a major problem with humans, faces and feet in particular. I think it's mainly because I spent all my childhood drawing from imagination, doing dragons and monsters (which can be seen in the beginning of my sb lol) .. only these past weeks/ months have I started focusing on humans... You reap what you sow
Prepsage - Thanks.. and man, why didn't you tell me using a windows font is kinda like havinga lens-flare in your piece? nah, kidding. It's just that I like the papyrus font.. and my handwriting is not even close to what I want it to be.
here's DSG 1394 Nightmaremonster with 2 heads from 1 head split verticaly. ~2 hours
I think I got lost halfway, cause I ended up with 2 heads without the split from 1 part.. anyhow.. Still realize how little I know about painting. Have a hard time with values and saturation... also added daily scribbles. I try to do two A3pages of poses a day. These are 30second poses
Hey man, I saw your submission in the daily sketch thread and saw you didn't feel your colors are too great. I think you're doing really well, and you're doing the right thing. The best way to learn is just by practicing and making mistakes and finding out what looks good Find plenty of references, and don't be afraid to just do studies of boring stuff to try and get a better understanding of light and colors. You've got some really great designs, so just keep at it!
Very very nice stuff on your sketchbook man ... keep it practice ... i like the studies of bodies ...

iansnyder Thanks for the feedback. What I'm trying to do now when I paint a picture is, try to find other pictures with the same mood I'm after, and see how the colours interact with each other in those pics.
Wings.of.wrath thank you.
more wip.. and I'm no good at drawing faces. Sure, I know how to draw them. But I don't know how to give life to them.. Think I need a mirror.
haha i'm here to distract you.
the green guy looked really good.
good you're still drawing (Y)
looking forward to see what the new picture will become.
Zulombreon Domo arigato, you made my day ..
aaah, happy happy now!
DSG 1395 - Sci-Fi • SOLDIER'S STRENGTH-EXPANSION SUIT ALLOWS MINI-GUN ROOFTOP JUMPING ~1hour
.. inspired by an armadillo.
and we have.. DSG 1385 Herbicoric Dragon... I rendered it further after I made the sketch. Want to finnish this piece!
and lastly, C.O.W 121 - Arctic Dinosaur wip
Some time ago I found this posemaniac pages too. It's sometime quite difficult to draw poses from such strange angles of view. I liked to draw them a little bit better so I increase a time limit to 45sec. But maybe after 10 poses I'd like to check my sketch with that given poses and I'm missing this function here. BTW great sketchbook !!!
i bow to the master
I really love your Unicorn Hunter, it looks very powerfull and dynamic. Your studies are great too man, as your other pics.
Cool stuff, keep it up!
Wow.. thanks for all the feedback!
Paul Kang I do not deserve your bow sir.
Gumish hey there, thanks. Yea Posemaniacs is a bit difficult sometimes. Especially the weird poses.
Here's more wip of cow. and DSG 1396 "Reptilian Tiger".. tried another way of painting.. more like traditional oil. And I'm not happy with the result at all.. ah well. Definitely trying this again though
