Hey everyone. Iím an 18 year old hailing from Florida. After much deliberation I finally grew a spine and made a Sketchbook. I hope this thing will keep me motivated to draw, and I hope I will grow as an artist. For the most part Iím self taught and I want to learn all I can so advice and critiques are greatly appreciated. Letís see where this thing takes me.
(Some of the below images were too big to scan, thus crappy photo.)
Why do you need a spine when your stuff is that good? :-) It seems that all you really need at the moment is hours of practice (who doesn't?), but otherwise you have all the right beginnings and no obvious bad habits, as one can judge from what you have displayed here. (Woo, teamfortess!)
The only thing I can say for now is that you perhaps want to work on the 3Dness of your academic drawing - it is very important that you move away from lines, or at least are able to do that at will. I do not necessarily mean shading them, although learning quick and perfect shading technique is a good idea as far as skills go, but generally thinking how the thing you draw looks from behind/side, even if you are just drawing the 'face' of it - transfer your throughts into that same drawing.
