In Greek mythology, Chiron or Cheiron ("hand") was held as the superlative centaur among his brethren. Like the satyrs, centaurs were notorious for being overly indulgent drinkers and carousers, given to violence when intoxicated, and generally uncultured delinquents. Chiron, by contrast, was intelligent, civilized and kind. He was known for his knowledge and skill with medicine. According to an archaic myth he was sired by Cronus when he had taken the form of a horse and impregnated the nymph Philyra, Chiron's lineage was different from other centaurs, who were born of sun and raincloud, rendered by Greeks of the Classic period as from the union of the king Ixion, consigned to a fiery wheel, and Nephele ("cloud"), which in the Olympian telling Zeus invented to look like Hera.
There always comes a point somewhere that I have to erase and finish out my hatching while I look at the references.

Is this a good crop or no? It is approximately the aspect ratio of a certain magazine cover. I doubt if I will make it anyway in view of "my style," but if you don't fit the format you have cut yourself out of all possibility of success.

Huh! Interesting you should say that. This is a reduction of the 300 dpi scan I just made thinking I would drop a digital layer of flat colors in behind it and then perhaps a layer of shadows and highlights.
This wouldn't be the first time somebody told me I messed something up by coloring it.
Do you like that grainy look, or should I smooth up the lines? As in:
The difference is that first one is actually a 1 bit blk & wht .bmp scan while the second one is a millions of colors .png scan.

I like the smoother one as its a bit easier to see everything.
I know what you mean about colouring. I've had so many drawings that that I was proud of, only to throw it all away after a horrific attempt at colouring. At least using photoshop its easy to start again if it goes wrong.
