I appreciate this job is a little outside most of your specialities perhaps, but as there is so much talent on here, hopefully it'll still be of some interest.
Anyway, I'm a producer at a games company looking for freelance artists. The main piece of work I need is for someone to design and create all the interface for a browser-based MMORPG currently in development. So this would involve such elements as player portraits, health/mana bars, inventory areas, and of course all the things that go with that, like scrollbars, buttons, edges.
We're also looking for someone (maybe the same person) to draw icons for inventory objects and skill/weapons icons.
The right person would have quite a lot of work in total, but initially we're just looking to pay for a day/half-day of work to do some style/detail mockups.
We want something that looks illustrated and hand-drawn rather than vectory and cold, whilst remaining functional. We don't want pixel art. A simple reference point would be somewhere between WoW and Dofus, but are open to individual styles.
Please feel free to post up links, or email me anything more specific on email@example.com - we're hoping to get a few people to do the initial mockups, to help find someone who can work on all of our interface, so I can give you more details if your work seems appropriate.
While I'm here, we're also looking for a tile artist. Isometric tiles, vectors or bitmaps, but again, illustrated and rich, so again, get in touch. If that's you too, we could keep you very busy.
Seems very interesting certainly and while I can understand that you may not want to limit yourself to a specific group of artists if you find what you like and are willing to pay for it....but could you establish a general idea of what range you might be looking for as compensation.
Also, do you mean you want the mock-ups/examples to look hand drawn or illustrated or are you refering to the finished product?
