I'm not sure how well I will stick with this sketchbook. I'm sort of notorious for letting this sort of thing go by the wayside by failing to update it regularly.
However, my goal in this is to find ways to challenge and improve myself in my drawing ability. I've recently been seeing some glaring errors in some of my art, in both composition and technicality that I'm slowly trying to train away. In that sense, it'd be great to hear any helpful comments or critiques. I highly appreciate any kind of feedback.
To start this off I picked an old sketch, but I think as I update in the future I will try to only post new material. Enjoy!
Working on some potential css headers for my website... The raven is cool but I'm thinking it puts in way too much thoughts of Edgar Allen Poe. I like the sconces, where I'll be putting in a few lights.
I'm wondering if an owl may work better for something akin to a "night shift".
Blah not sure. I'll probably stick this into WIPs to get some feedback. I dunno.
A WIP that's been sitting around getting no attention. This is a frustrating structure to paint for me. I'm going for a smoggy city look, but I'm just not happy with the colors. Not enough contrast, but with the smoggy look I want to achieve, that's not really necessary. I know the buildings in the background suck, and I need to fix the skyline...
Just challenging myself to draw better faces by using photos and media for reference. Studying all sorts of stuff. Gonna do that for a bit. I'm frustrated trying to draw the same old facial angles and similar features on most of my characters. Time to push the envelope a little more...
It's also a great way to break in the new cintiq. :B
