Here's a piece I did for a competition. The theme was "Potential". Unfortunately, I only heard about the competition the day it was due and I ended up missing the deadline by a couple of hours. However, I believe it may be used for a t-shirt design by Assault shirts. You can see more of my designs at www.assaultshirts.com Hope ya'll dig. Cheers, Stani.
That's a photographic montage isn't it? I can't really comment on that. :/
P.S. I'm sorry if it isn't but I can't really tell, the colours are messed up like if you saved it as a GIF.
"Photographic Montage"? I'm not sure I get what you mean, I've used reference images, manipulated, painted, etc...i haven't just googled images and straight slapped them on there hahaha If you are saying that i didn't paint that straight outright, then I guess you could call it that. As for the colors, again I'm not sure what you're seeing or what you mean but from what i see it looks accurate with what i produced. Perhaps it's a stylistic choice on my part that you disagree with or don't like that makes you feel as if the colours are "GIF" like. Thanks for the non-comment though? lol
I think it's awesome. What did you do, if you don't mind my asking? Do you have the progression of the image somewhere?
Kerberos: You can find a tutorial i made for another design I did for Assault Shirts, it is of a similar approach and you can view it here...
I hope you find it useful in some way. Cheers and thanks for the kind words
Good work! Nice composition and a bold graphic look!
I think he's talking about the solarization/posterized look. The abrupt jumps between colors. Looks like an artistic choice to me, though.
NathanLong, I appreciate your kind comments. I can see what you're saying about his confusion regarding the posterized look. I can confirm that it is 100% intentional! haha Cheers,
I rather like the piece, it has a beautiful flow that always leads the eye upwards, and I rather enjoy the colours. It has this sort of restrained freedom feel that I rather like
I don't care how you did it (well, I kinda do cos I'm curious lol) but I'm glad you have done it.
Sometimes I think we can get a little too hung up on the critiquing, and miss the bit where we can admire. I will admire and think it's beautiful, thank you for posting
AhkNemet, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you like it and I appreciate your perspective, thanks for sharing.
Hey, I remember having to do these types of photo manips in my PS class at school. It's a pretty good way to familiarize yourself with the software (using other stuff that you might not normally use in just painting.) It can also be pretty fun just messing with the filters and such. Anyways, good job. this is pretty nice.
