Fun stuff all around, kids.
There's only one green fairy for me. Tinkerbell. Had this glamour icon been a real person, I'm sure she would have made a spectacularly entertaining Hollywood lush in her latter years.
Have a feeling this thread is going to be huge.
Wanted to do a little lighter take on the char- seems this stuff is not so bad.
It's pretty fascinating watching the progress of these, never really paid much attention to people's works in progress before, just saw the finished things. You guys all seem to work very neatly... it makes me jealous, for me it's more a case of creating a giant mess and hope it'll clean up into something half decent at the end.
Debating what to replace the background with because I'm really not digging the buildings right now.
@ Clochette: That. is. gorgeous. period. you are my hero ^_^
Some very nice entries so far...I doubt Ill finish this one too but I sketched it up a bit...still gonna work on it and may post updates but I doubt Ill make it to poll.
Here is my idea
I've never tried art nouveau so I'm trying it with a spin here...

Will definitely be competing in this one- I'll post my work up when photoshop stops being a douche ._.
Just for giggles though- an article that was the most recently added on FARK.com about- tada!- our topic!
I ended up adding a little glass instead of a spoon:
I used ink, watercolors and acrylics. I added my paintbrush 'tests' in the background in Photoshop because I liked the look of it...
(Remember folks: Fairies don't let fairies fly drunk)
yeah the chest did look weird so I kinda solved it by making the whole pose weird
and the bottle smaller to get that stuck in the bottle feeling
dont know if Im gonna make her hairless or not and im gonna try to make the bottle more symetric
Just continued a bit so I don't get left out or something. It will be this Art Nouveau kind of thingy after I clean it up, nothing original. And the colors are probably all wrong.
wow, many drinks around here ;) but painting glass is quite hard, and the results are inspiring.
curly this looks promising! i like the structures and the mysterious atmosphere. even the other/older one is really cool, thanks for posting it too.
Amber Alexander good idea to combine the cape and wings. hope you'll add some surrounding!
Nadiamoon haha, quite an alternative point of view! good to have some more critic interpretations around.
NoShot nice 20ies spirit! it's the first thing you think of when seeing this.
Katanasoul incredible study up to now! i'm curious how that's going to develop.
hungryan expressive contrast between the red outlines and the body / the liquid. but maybe she needs something to lean on/ to explain her pose.
i started with the colours and will try to add some more art nouveau surroundings and frames and stuff.
Heres my Wip trying to perfect the black/white and then add colored highlights
wayward speed shot down inverted radio sky
FridayEve- I love the style and how 'clean' it is. So pretty and simple.
Arthemis IX- The bottle-dress is just too awesome!
really much great stuff so far... wish I could say something to everyone
Maybe I have some time for crits tomorrow...
Then I'm going to work on the wings of my little fairy, I'm not quite satisfied with them right now...
Quick play with colour.
Matt Dixon really nice work! i actually like both but the one on the left has a slightly more credible atmosphere. a mix of both?
oh, and the bottle still looks like wine more than absinthe... maybe an authentic one would
give the image the final touch.
And as if on cue from the New York Times: Absinthes to Go Mad Over
I've been watching CHOW for some time now and after doing the Team one I thought it's about time I gave this one a shot. So this is my first CHOW.
Here's my quick thumbs and a WIP of my drawing in progress, just got the pose mapped out so far.

Sup guys, first time participating in CHOW!
I've been working on this for quite some time now, and after staring myself blind I've decided that I'm done, am I?
Jefita- Thanks soo much for the help, leg now moved.
AmbientSounds- Thanks for the kind words!
Ronpower- Great sketch, looking forward to an update!
Matt Dixon- Suchg a fan of your work man, can't wait to this finished!
really small up date, just gotta add some broken bottles/glass and then to add colour.
Any thoughts or crits would be much appreciated.
Okay, here's a take on Absinthe.
