Sketchbook: Hawkswift's Sketchbook - Page 44
Spent a bunch of time figuring out how I want the background to look. Starting to figure it out, feels like.
More work on the background. Getting a better idea of the process, but I think I need to work more of separating background, middle ground, and foreground in black and white.
Playing with the pose and head of the foreground figure in the frame I've been working on.
I know this is a bit late considering how far you are with the line work but turning the perspective so the door is in 3/4 view could help loads to draw in the eye and create more depth and movement. You totally could get away with distorting the door and wall into a 3/4 view
I gave it a shot
Also refined the figure some more.
A hand from life. Playing with different methods.
Another hand and a utility knife from life.

Playing with a background design.
A quick (~half hour) self portrait.
Quick sketch of another patron at a cafe and a whimsical eye on a very thin pyramid.
Another self portrait. Feels like better lighting would be very helpful...
Another one. Attempted better lighting.
Working on environments/backgrounds.
Sketch of an office I was waiting in. Glad of the practice - This is one of my weak points.
Playing with some ideas.
Very quick hand from life and figure from imagination. I'm sick, but I wanted to draw
More hands from life. Still trying different methods.
Playing with working white on black.
Hands from life. Need to get a better method for fingers in 3D.
Adding a third value. Also playing with the character design, but mostly experimenting with three tones.
Quick and sketchy, but I'm busy with other things tonight...
Warm up sketches seem to be very worthwhile...
Hands from life. The one on the left was first. The second is much better. I'll have to see if this generalizes.
