Nice work mate
ha. there are more deserving sketchbooks, but thanks!
starting a brand new personal project. need to get better and faster at pre-viz. using my time here in Mumbai, India as inspiration- not a particularly hard stretch, since the city looks like a living piece of concept art already. spent about 30m a piece on these.
hoohooh i want moreeee )) but seriously great proggress man!
Eat at McMeaties I laughed. Whether it was an intentional Invader Zim reference or not lol.
Really nice job on the Artorder changlle. Love the bright yellow on her hood, it really pops.
The right side of the Artorder challenge, is that a paint over? It looks really flat, like there's a wall right up against the sidewalk and the street and buildings are a mural or something. Hmm. I think it has to do with how you painted the street. All of the vertical brush strokes kind of mess with the eyes.
Other than that, great piece. Love the Invader Zim reference.
Looking really nice. I love your painting in this one, feels very nice.
Like Spiral said though, the right hand side feels really flat. It doesnt seem to recede behind the foreground wall for some reason.
Also I would tone down some of the saturated colours maybe. It ok with the different bright colours, but you have a strong saturated green, yellow, blue and a bit of red. Maybe just stick to 2 and dull the others maybe?
Just a thought. Great work otherwise, I really like it.
Yeah, totally agree about that right side. I think it comes from two things, mainly. I designed the character first and then figured out the bg, so the composition is pretty weak. Mostly though, I applied a gradient that was too dark, radiating out from the wall she's leaning against, masked off to only effect the bg. That's the kinda shit you do when you WANT to make something look flat. Got in a hurry and got dumb. Will definitely fix it for proper portfolio use.
Your environemnts are really thick with atmosphere! Your way of handling depth and composition is something I´m struggling towards atm, so your images are really inspirational to me. Just glanced at your SB now, will take a longer look tomorrow. Good stuff, keep up the good work!

Thanks, man! My first time entering an ArtOrder challenge. Definitely not the last!
On that last image, I'm kinda leaning towards a redo. I like it alright, but it has no real punch. Weak composition and the wrong moment too. I'm going to change the scene layout and fast forward about 2 seconds to the point of actual confrontation. Flesh will tear
Here's a link to the ArtOrder story, for those who haven't seen it. I was fully expecting the guy who got second place to win. As far as straight up illustration chops, he beat my ass. They all did
