I'm an illustrator looking to buy an opaque projector. I looking for an opinion on which projectors are the best. I've been looking at the Artograph Super Prism. Has anyone used this projector. What are the pros and cons. Also, I'm under the impression that some people use regular bulbs which last longer in their projectors. Is there a drawback to doing this?
I couldn't get the search to work. Are there any good threads about this?
I had no idea they still made opaque projectors. Have they gotten any smaller? If an opaque projector is what you are looking for, cool. Might I suggest a document camera? It essentially fills the same roll as an opaque projector but it hooks up to a computer via USB most likely. This might save you some steps if you intend to use your projected subject for anything digital. I dont know what the price difference would be or if that would change versatility for you but it's a thought.
If I were you I would look into beamers/digital projectors and a digital camera. Easier to change perspective on objects with your camera and the digital projectors are often brighter and can offer keystoning adjustment (so you out the projector off to the side so that you're not in front of the light, and you adjust the projector so that there is no distortion in your image). I got a second hand projector from a happy client - it's not best resolution, has crappy colours, but works like a charm nonetheless.
