PHATandy: Thanks mate! Drapery...? Funny you should mention that...
DRAPERY DUMP!!!... (much of this is me warming up for the assignment for week 1 Drapery for Michael Hampton's class "Analytical Figure Drawing 2" and some stuff from min and an abandoned study - now I have displayed to myself that I can at least study drapery, so no excuses for not doing chars from imagination from now on!! )

hey man i really like post 423, the character sketches and the girl is great, i think maybe her eyes are a little small or too close together. great studies man, keep it up
nice hands, ure kicking some major ass with the studies, I guess the crimson daggers and Hampton's class is making a great combination. keep it up
Wow, you're being really busy
How's the hampton class going? I must admit I'm a little curious how he goes on with the material after the first class
Hm. As you're always giving good advice, I don't want to leave without some crit
So I'd suggest to work a little more on color and your rendering skills. Just take your time in one study and try to make it look as real and polished as possible. I always find that the more I look at a picture and the further I take a study, the more I also see in the photo or still life. It's almost as if certain colours start to pop up that didn't seem to be there when I looked at it in the first hour.
Keep up the hard work!
yogeshj25: Thanks yoge! Yup, I'll keep working!
2kre8: Thanks Victor! Yeah, it's an effective combination, the rate at which I'm recognising things has increased exponentially!!
AvisNocturna: Thanks Avis!! Yes, Figure 2 is well worth it, focusing on the more difficult areas of the figure aswell as a few wildcards like tone, composition and drapery, it's looking to be a great investment! Ok, colour and rendering, and longer studies, I'll be sure to bear that in mind from now on!!!
Oh, wow! Those are some cool painting studies! And figure drawings... And drapery studies... And they're all so many! You people with your lots of sketches depress me...
Thanks for the kick in the butt and the inspiration!
Keep posting and having fun now!
windmaker: Thanks!! Well the feeling is mutual, you people with all your great imaginative work depress me . Looks like we're at eachother's opposite!
More stufffssss... Some life drawing from tuesday (note, sought out comfort zone i.e. analytical process), some foot structure studies, two figures from imagination, a quick sketchy character, an even quicker, sketchier film study and some minor progress on the master study (tidied up the hand on our left, the background texture and tweaked he head slightly).
wow big dump, nice stuff mactire, hope u win!
2kre8: Thanks for the support man!!
Haven't had much time for art since the last update, and for most of that time I was slacking or not really committing. Anywho, managed to get this much done. The digi studies were an excersise in trying to resist using opacity below 60%. As for the illo, i wanted to try something a bit dynamic. Feel free to point out if you notice anything horrendously off. It is a work in progress and I'd be happy to take on any suggestions!
wonderful studies & I really like line-art-characters & I need to do those feet studies you have done - looks so useful.

Truly amazing stuff here! YOu could take alot of your studies and make a book out of them lol Im really digging the amount of work you are doing and the amount of time you are taking on working on you anatomy and figure drawing as well as digital painting. Cant wait to see more! Loving the character designs as well!
Superb studies and a wonderful improvement since you started!
As for critique (and take this with a pinch of salt as I'm no expert on values or composition myself and this might be nonsense!) but the values in your last image are drawing my eye to the expanse of light in the top left hand corner instead of to the character. She could use some contrasting values to pop her out of the background a bit more.
Great stuff though! Keep it up!
dan liimatta: Thanks Dan! Man, I've really been admiring your work for a while now, I feel honoured that you like something in here!
Joe777k7: Thanks Joe!! Though I don't think a book would be a great idea, think of all the copyright claims!
GHudston: Thanks G! No, I think you're right, I'm probably wrong in putting so much white back there anyway, but as it stands the figure was (and probably still is) too dark. Thanks for pointing that out!!
you have some nice work here, lots of studies maybe too many
i figured recently a good way to pick up new things you might have missed, is drawing from your imagination after each study. Doing study after study and not thinking about what you've done is easily done if not testing yourself frequently after it. Just a small sketch from your mind to imitate the key lessons you saw in each of your studies. Doesn't get more fun than that. 5*
Just wanna say you're doing great with all your hard work and keep going man!
