HELLO ALL, My name is Reece and i have finally made my way over to conceptart.org after putting it off for far too long.
i am 20 years old and have only recently started learning and practicing concept art although i have always had a love for drawing it was
definatly a change creating things from my head (a lot harder too) so yeah, i made the decision to leave my university course and focus my
attention to this in hopes of one day securing that dream job as a concept artist.
I live in the U.k in a town called south end on sea (about a hour away from London)
any way i hope you all enjoy my art and i look forward to talking with you all from this point on.

great start! if you keep working hard theres nothing stopping you being really excellent. just rememeber to watch your perspective; some of those vehicles have multiple vanishing points which makes them appear to be twisting. good luck and keep posting!

thanks so much, i am glad you think so. yeah i see what you mean, i was doing it intentionally originally to try to get a cool effect but if it looks twisted then il bate it in mind when starting my next one.
here is the coloured version, the pin up girl is from a internet image and NOT painted by me.
opinions on the colouring of this would be really helpful as im not sure what it is but something doesn't look right to me.
Man Awesome concepts! There is always room for imporvement but man you are on your way to Pro! Man i wish i could do stuff like this. There is something holding me back though. Like a roadblock or something. But its great to see someone working hard and improveing! I wish you the best of luck on this adventure and hopefully ill be there doing this awesome job with you. If I dont quit first hahaha Keep going!!!
thanks man, im glad you think so, i looked through your sketchbook and you have a great ability to generate ideas which is something i struggle with, my visual library isnt very good especially when it comes to forms for vehicles. but yes definitely and who knows one day aspiring artists will be googleing us for inspiration don't give up though, we will get there with practice
january 2013 - A little rusty but still works'
a character/mech? design that was inspired by the big daddies from Bioshock.
the character is brought to life by a electric generator that is stored on his back. although the generator can be broken it only takes a few new parts to reanimate the rotting corpse within and voila your ready to go.
warning giant deadly undead creatures may be dangerous... batteries not included!
february 2013: morning view
tried to creat a cosy looking street, i feel like im getting caught up with the color theory stuff
interrogation: February 2013
i like the lighting on this, and i think i got some narrative in there too.
here is my rendering phase which i was fairly happy with but i feel it went wrong when i tried adding color to the image,
does anyone have any tips or advice to how i could colour it better?
That last one is pretty badass man. Great perspective work and lighting. I'm quite jealous
My only 2 crits would be to keep on eye on your horizon line and try to keep all your vertical lines lined up. The vertical lines for the store front seem to be skewed in a few different directions then when you look at the building further out they are straight up and down.
Regarding the horizon line, the perspective is very low, as if seen through the eyes of a dog or something about 1.5 feet up from the road. Which could be what you want but something to keep in mind.
Again, kickass work man. Someday I'll do up a full scene like this, thanks for posting.
you should definatley give a full scene a go, and when you do feel free to show it to me, thanks again
thanks xcarbon, i feel my vehicles always come out better than my organic subjects but i'l keep practicing
April 2013: Water Golem
this was a 90 minute speed paint done for a small contest.
April 2013: Lil Monster
inspired by the creature designs from the game eat sheep
April 2013: Pedal Plane
an idea i had where i wanted to combine futuristic form with old fashion ropes, sails and rigging
April 2013: Pris
i tried drawing pris from blade runner using a pose reference then adding the characteristics rather than just drawing from a edsact reference.
April 2013: self portrait
was strugling when it came to painting faces so i thought id try painting myself from a mirror and i dunno its okey but there are a few things wrong with it and its lacking the artistic style i was hoping for...
I like your universe, though you should work more on the 3d aspect of your drawings. Keep going qnd try some academic spheres, cones etc to get a better perception of things
Looking good! Your last post really looks great, your perspective seems much better. Not much to crit that hasn't already been said. Just keep posting!
April 2013: sacred castle
im still having difficulty adding colors to my value sketch.something just seems off.
also finding it a problem that my Dell XPS has a much higher contrast than my usual laptop so often i finish the piece on my xps then see it on my normal laptop and it doesnt look as good. i dont know which i should account for.
here is a level adjust to make it closer to how it looks on the laptop i use to do my art. i also added flames to the torches as suggested by someone from the conceptart.org FB group.
The last one looks great! If you have problems with color, I'd suggest doing some color studies from photos and life. Try to see how warm light creates cool shadows and vice versa. And don't be afraid to use strong saturation.
final edit to my previous picture, added some stronger saturated color, which is rare for me
May 2013 : Red Velvet.
a new vehicle design i done, i feel my hard surface renders come out so much better than when i try to paint organic subjects... :/
