I am trying to hook up a 21" cintiq to a dual core macbook pro. The display setting only recognize a vga monitor even though I am using DVI cables and input. I also cannot get the 16000 x 1200 resolution to set. The cintiq will say out of sync and revert to a lower setting. After awaking from sleep mode the screen also shakes back and forth.
Has anyone else used a macbook pro set up and encountered problems with the cintiq? I previously had the cintiq on my dell desktop and never had any issues till now. Thanks.
I work with a 21UX on a macbook pro (and a mac pro quad), but mine is the previous generation Macbook pro. It all works fine.
If yours is one of the new unibody macbooks, it's probably related to Apple's new dvi connection that juczpen linked to, but have you checked the dvi/vga switch on the back of the Cintiq? Could that make the difference, or am i just being daft?

Your first problem is that you're on a Mac. Kidding I had a similar problem with my 12wx at work. I'm on a PC at work. So I don't know if any of these will help you out. I found that it was a handful of problems. 1. All the problems I had, none of them were Wacom/Cintiq's fault. 2. It did matter what kind of cable I used on the box. The graphics card could read both VGA and DVI, but only VGA could get the highest settings. Have you tried using a DVI to VGA cable on your MBP? Also, make sure that the box all the Cintiq's cables plug into is switched to the right setting (VGA or DVI). That's all I got, sorry I can't help more.
Duddlebug: Hey Duddlebug, I love your work and love all your advice on IFX. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for all the replies guys. It was the cable after all. I looked around in my cintiq box and found a dvi-i to dvi-d converter. After attaching the converter cable and replugging everything is good. Instead of VGA it registers as Cintiq21UX. Im on an older mac with dvi-i but is seemed to do the trick. Thanks again.
