Here's some stuff. I've been trying to struggle through digital painting, anybody have any pointers on keeping the colors from mushing all to hell? I like the cat-lady but her face was frustrating me because I overpainted it and couldn't then figure out how to fix it. I'm trying to keep a semi-daily painting regimen so that I actually IMPROVE, but any guidance is greatly appreciated.
Just random sketches - a couple of these are life drawing, but mostly out of my head. There's a life drawing workshop starting up on campus as soon as fall quarter starts, so I'm going to start lurking around there to get in some practice. I haven't had any actual naked-people life drawing since summer of '04... it shows.
The following are sketches from the fourth worldwide Sketchcrawl I was in San Francisco with a bunch of awesome artists, wandering around and drawing whatever we saw.
Here are a couple of digital paintings. Not happy with the first one, but you have to suck and realize you suck before you can start to improve.
Hope you enjoy! More will be forthcoming.
Neat stuff, the lady with the cat is a pretty good effort first up. I sometimes find it hard to put away my pencils and do any colour stuff as it is pretty challenging.
Keep up the effort. You'll be great in no time.
Value study, I guess. My cat, but from memory. 10 min.
I really love the gestures, man. Lots of clean ink lines in there. That shows some strengths right there. Just keep it up! I wish I could be so fluid with some of my stuff. I usually have this "render to death" problem. Great start to your thread. Keep it comin'.
