i promised myself not to be too lazy this year and hopefully starting and updating a sketchbook will help me improve...
so... harsh critique is welcome
lets start with some fast studies from today and a sketch for chow.
Welcome to CA (I'm new as well), I like what you've posted so far. I'll leave it to the more experienced to give you a more in depth critique but I'd like to see more. These are great quick studies and they make me want to see additional stuff, maybe some more detailed work as well? What program are you using?
i know im going to be following this already... youve got an amazing start so far. Cant wait to see your more detailed stuff. love your brushstrokes~
Elks are orange
Elks can fly
Not a bad start. Maybe work some more detail in there as you go. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
thanks guys...i hope i can update something more detailed and finished soon...
but here something from today...first two from life... had problems with both :/...especially with color, thats why i just made it b/w in the end.
last one is another sketch for chow. tried to use more than my one usual brush....turned out kinda messed up
still working on some stuff, so just a couple of really quick sketches from life...two faces and two ...whatever
yo, this is really good.. nice brush strokes in your sketchbook in general, nothing special to say but continue and share with us!
s i m o n
Solid stuff, the forms you're capturing are great, try to push some detail to give your sketches a focal point.
Wonderful studies, you have very good drawing skills.
Some of them do indeed look to be a bit on the dark end of the spectrum but I enjoy them regardless. I like how you approach shapes, very interesting.
What software do you use?
hm somehow i did a post but its not shown :/
@mike butkus:thank you. trying to improve with my drawing skills...
@elricslinger:yeah i will try to put a little bit more detail in...i know i often kinda rush from one sketch to the next one without putting enough info in it, especially on pc...
@xelar:i often tend to go into darks to fast...i hate it. also having issues with my monitor being too bright...cheap notebook...
@kt samurai:just using photshop as most people
sooo again only quick stuff...warmups, some random boring faces, quick study of my climbing shoes from life, a face i totally fucked up in the end and stopped working on because of frustation, a face i actually really like and a something inspired by the movie alatriste.
these sketches just were a lot of fun to do. played around with the last one...
bored by my own stuff -.-
have to start working on my problems asap...especially rendering something to finish and doing more studies of the things i have problems with...
but anyway some crappy things... last one is the block-in for a study of a skull, i will try to push that one to a clean and polished finish.
had a lot of stuff to do and no time
so just a small update on the skull, a really quick study and some stupid experiment...hopefully i will get my scanner to work, so i can upload some traditional stuff im working on.
two studies from the "draw from what does everyone look like"-thread... and a tiny progress on that skull.
just a little bit before going to bed...
a quick sketch, a really small progress on that skull again and a study from "what does everyone look like" i started...but too tired to go on today.
Recent batch of faces are looking good. Nothing to crit yet.
just a doodle while eating breakfast...
@Aragah: thank you!
a small study from alatriste and a stupid sketch:
hey dude. thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! youve got some great studies going on in here. the values are coming along nicely, and your brushwork is great, but on some pieces i feel like it gets a little too abstract, or messy, but in all things are looking great! keep it up!
@DizzySun: thanks! ...then you should look into the mirror...that sentence kinda confused me
@NickyBeats:thanks, yeah i know its some kind of a bad habit i try to get rid of...
just dropping a study from the "what does everyone look like"-thread...i should try to remember the names...
anyway fucked it up kinda hard...somehow smiling people are hard to capture.
And i know its b/w again but atm i try to focus on getting my values right....hard enough
Great start! I love your colours and broad brush stokes
Love the first picture!
tried out soft brushes....dont like them :/
@LastGen: thanks alot!
just dropping this sketch plus color block in, will try do render it....trying to do some cleaner lineart before going ahead...a more or less generic babarian....and a little doodle:
Nice powerful poses and expressions!
These are really good. Keep it up!
