Hey fumble! Great work. The characters and life drawings are looking very nice
Thanks for the comment in my sketchbook! It's nice to see another Dane on CA.org, there's not a lot of us here.
You have a really great sketchbook going here. I'm super impressed by how much you're able to draw even while studying at the university - how do you do it? No seriously, you must have incredible work ethic. Your drawings from life have become strong and they are also starting to really pay off in your work from imagination. Good gestures. Like the self portraits you did a while back. Toilet paper man is hilarious and very well done.
If I have to say one thing, it's that sometimes when you're drawing heads, the features do not look as if they sit on the skull, but more as if they are pasted on. Closer attention to the bone beneath the skin might help tighten that up - but it's really hard, especially in train sketches when you're also trying to get likeness. I've problems with this myself. Most of the time I don't even get to the face. D;
@ Black Spot:Thanks , good idea
@ kingkostas:I'm not satisfied either, but I'll keep trying
@ LostFayth: hehe thanks man.
@ Lyno: Thanks Lyno!
@ jskotte : No problem
@ Pigeonkill : Thanks!
@ Eddieee : Thank you
@ Giorge: Thank, glad you like it
@ towy :
@ Benjaminba: hehe yeah well trust me it is not always easy wanting to do two "full-time" educations at the same time But one day i just know that i will fully devote my time to art.
hmm i thing this will be the last regular update i will be doing for a while, exam and report deadlines are drawing near
I will distribute this update in two posts. First one with digital stuff, trainsketches, and studies. And the secound will be for life drawings from the last two sessions.
Your life drawing has really improved and I give too much advice.
is it me or are you really getting better with your digitals? most be those studies...

@ Rotor : thanks for the compliment man, your welcome!
@ Lyno: No more trainsketching ! ooh too bad. Then you just have to go sketchcrawling some times, like in the zoo and such.
@ Nettle_Mountain : thanks, more will come!
Soooo finally the exams are all over (good results and all ) and now it is time for art! I have promised myself that i want to participate in all CHOWs and COWs and hopefully also most of the EOWs! hmm i seriously need to do some environment studies. I also want to improve my life-drawing/painting skills. So me, and my brother, have made a plan:
Mondays: Cast/bargue drawing. (Evening: Thumbs/find refs for character.)
Wednesday: Still-life (digital) (Evening: environment study)
Thursday: Sketch crawl day (zoo, museums, life drawing, etc.)
Friday: Environment/EOW (Evening: Animal study/thumbs)
Saturday: Creature (COW)
Sunday: Open day, finish what needs to be finished.
Todays update is just what i managed to do since that last time i updated, which was forever (two months!) ago. Trains sketches and digital studies. Ooh yea i thought i would also upload what i made in the 3D course i took at uni, a warhammer 40000 killa-kan ():
Wow if you keep up this pace you will be an art rockstar in no time! keep it going
you are doing great with your lines and everything. The renderings and values are improved greatly!!!Love the pieces you have done.
Keep up the progress!!!
Hi there, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook.
Very nice life drawings sir. The only crit I might have is that it seems like you hang on to that outline a little too much, maybe focus more on how the forms fit together rather than drawing an outside contour. I think it could help your work look more 3d (cross contours are also great). Keep up the good work.

Hey! These are all looking great, especially your digital paintings! It seems like you like to set up camp and really grind out images, right? If you aren't already, you might wanna try some speed drawings like the kind on posemaniacs.com. The quick sort of drawings really help you pick up details and forms for things like those heads you drew
Warning! Drinking lots of beer can impair your senses. Please do so before you view my sketchbook!
@ alexson:What is bargue drawing? hmm a guy named bargue made some very detailed drawings, and in many classical ateliers it is an exercise to copy the drawings as precisely as possible. I guess i'm doing bargue drawings mostly to improve my pencil rendering techniques.
@ kingkostas: Thanks man
@ PurpleHillFish : thanks
@ Metal Fingers: i hope so too!
@ Sir Cam: you are absolutely right i do have a very strong emphasis on the contour, when the life drawing classes start up again after the summer holiday i will definitely try to give more form to the masses inside the contour.
@ Nadesican : Yes, my emphasis at the moment is on longer pieces, because that is what i feel i really lack. Thought you are right i shouldn't neglect the short speedy ones
- a digital still life
- an environmental study
- An environment i made for the EOW. Im not going to submit it though becuase i deviated from the brief
- a poop character experiment.
- 2x sketch scrawl pages.
So much good stuff! Saw you checking out my book and stayed here browsing for a while. You do some great contour style life drawings with great control. I rarely draw the 'outermost' shapes and do more sweeping lines to start and get things lined up...you do very little under drawing in the life drawing?
The blue cavern waterwheel enviro needs a bit stronger of a focal point to me - you could tone down the values as a whole and make the waterfall pop even more with value contrast, keeping the cave behind it especially dark. Its a tad symmetrical, perhaps a large building to one side, and a bridge to gap that wanter and lead our eye from one side to the other.
Great mix of things too, I hope to return and be able to offer some help, and throw some crits my way when you can.
