Hello CA community!!
Let me begin by first thanking all who have taken the time to look through this thread. I really appreciate it. I've been frequenting the site for a long time now and It's amazing how much great talent is roaming around here...from digital to traditional, it's all great. Until now, I have not had the guts to actually post artwork on the site, but I feel now more than ever that it is an essential step I have to take in order for me to grow as an artist. I know my skills are not up to par with all the great professional illustrators and fine artists in CA, but I'm willing to work hard, take the criticism and learn from my experiences. Thanks again to all, and I look forward to hearing from all of you.
*the pictures i took aren't the greatest but they are close enough in color and value to the originals.
The first four paintings are acrylic on paper 8 x 10"
The last two are oil on canvas (note: the last piece with the mangoes is an unfinished piece)
Cool stuff! =)
My favourite would be the one with the lemon and the coconut.
Great mixture of warm and cool colours =)
Some of them - especially the bottom one - comes across to me as a bit too muddy. It's rather bland, which makes it difficult to find it interesting.
Maybe you should try to accentuate the fruits( or what you think is important ) with hard and soft edges respectively?
Keep it up! =)
Cool man, I love the color and juicyness of the the fruit, one thing that I have to nic pick about is the use of white. White should not ever be used straight out of the tube, it makes the still life look lifeless. When I start a still life, I think about the concept of how I want it to look, because its impossible for almost anyone to duplicate wat they see in life on a canvas, or whatever you use, like wat METHOD said think about wats important to you, and how you want to portray the stilllife. Cool man, keep it up.
Look, Iam diet drama, want to spend tha night dont bring pajamas, man there's so much heat beneath clothes, you see me !
JesArt Sketchbook, go have a gander..
Good reflections on the fruit! They look real. The bird in the first painting looks good too, and I love the strong coloured background. But I'm not certain, but I think his legs might be too long.
ReviseTheMethod - Thanks for your crits, especially on the last piece. This is an old unfinished piece that I posted on the thread to get some feedback and ideas. I do agree with your crits and I'll take them into consideration when I come back to this piece.
JesArt -thanks for taking the time to submit your crit. I'll take that into consideration in future pieces.
JaneM -I'm glad you liked the still life pieces. Perhaps you're right about the legs on the bird. Thanks for pointing it out.
