For an upcoming exhibition of mine, I decided to go pop-cultural and take the 4 ghosts of Pac-Man (Blinky, Inky, Pinky & Clyde) into my little workshop, inject them with some steroids and give them a bit of an update.
I painted these 4 using acrylics and spent, collectively, about 40 hours on the set. I hope that one day, these guys are taken, made into 3D models and built into a dark and modern version of the classic, Pac-Man.
Blinky, aka Cruise Elroy (red)
Inky, aka Bashful (this rendition happens to have a crush on Pac-Man) (light blue)
Pinky, the pink one...obviously. (pink)
Clyde, the dumb one. (yellow)
I also, for practice, edited these images together in a little clip... I would post it but don't know how to so here is a link to it if you want to see it:
I will be doing a rendition of Pac-Man himself for the exhibit and will post it up, along with the new paintings (a hot air balloon made from the faces of giants, a darker version of the Twitter Over-Capacity image and something to do with a lunatic and 50 pieces of silver) for the show, in this thread once they are complete.
The show opens on the 9th of September, 2011... not got a lot of time to get it all done

Everyday that passes is another day closer to my impending exhibition. Today, I finished work on another painting going into my show. The Twitter Overcapacity image has never looked like this.
It's called "The Social Leviathan" and is acrylic on board, 48" x 24"
That is so rad. What's the size of each ghost painting?
And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.
Those ghosts would be right at home at the "I Am 8-Bit" art show.

Here is the completed version of Pac-Man, to sit along side my versions of the four ghosts for my upcoming exhibit. Acrylics on board.
...Man, I can't get over how demented I made him look... any one want to take my twisted versions and make a dark, deranged version of the game?
My show is tonight (at writing this) and in preparation for the show, I went to visit one of the venues of the whole event organizers (as my show is one in 65 in an arts trail). I painted another whale but this time on the wall of the cafe area called The Whale Cafe, for the Shiny Shed HQ.
Its like my Social Leviathan but a bit more happy looking. It took a whole afternoon to do and was done with acrylics.
