Soooooo um yeah. I think it's about time I start a sketchbook... I'm hoping that the fear of sucking in public will motivate me to draw more, and get better.
Here are some sketches from the last few weeks. I think they're a bit timid... it's been about 5 years since I was drawing the figure from life regularly, so I hope to see myself improve from here...
Crits are always welcome!

Hey jessica, really nice lifedrawings, very clean presentation too, the first and the third are my favourites.
Well, hope to see more of your drawings.
Wow! You have some very lovely life drawings. What kind of pencils and paper do you use? How long do these take you? I'd love to see more, seeing as I'm struggling myself.
Keep up the great work.
"Looking for critiques! Any help is appreciated."

I doubt you're going to suck in public any time soon! Or at all, actually. These are amazing You have a very confident and flowy line, it's beautiful to look at. I hope you'll keep updating this one regularly, your work is awesome!
Jessica, this is a wonderful start for your sketchbook! I really like your use of line, lost and found and the accents. You've inspired me to try out the tech graphite stick. Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you: What kind of paper did you use for today's lifedrawing Looks like it didn't have much of a tooth.
Sketchbook!! Please help me improve!
Diego - Thanks! And I'm a stickler for presentation! :p ha, thanks for noticing.
SkyTheArtist - I've been using a few different drawing tools, still trying to decide what I like best. What you see here is either graphite or conte (you can probably tell which is which). The figure drawings above took between 1.5-2.5 hours... depending on how late I showed up to the studio session! :p
e-beef - Phoebe I better see some new life drawings in your sketchbook soon!! I miss you too!
Jason - Thanks for the motivation, you always inspire me!
AsaB - Thanks!
KidApe - Nice seeing you at the studio again. After I got home I added the black background cause I thought she getting lost in the paper too much. The Rives BFK paper actually has a bit of tooth, it's 100% cotton but super resilient, it can stand a beating with the eraser and still look pretty. It feels kinda soft & velvety, super nice. It comes in a big sheet, so I cut it up into smaller pieces. Jason recommended it to me. The leadholders are cool, I bought them in San Francisco, but you might have to order them online here.
Paper: Rives BFK Printmaking Paper (Tan)
Pencil: leadholder, HB & 3B lead/graphite, white conte (for highlights), sharpener

Nice! Yeah I def like the added contrast to the figure. Thanks so much for taking pics of your supplies and sharing the links=D I'll have to order some of that paper from DickBlick then, and I found the lead holder at Micheal's.
Sketchbook!! Please help me improve!
These look great! Excellent presentation as well with your subtle drop shadow
"Get Hooked" would be a cheesy, yet appropriate sketchbook title, as I'll be checking back quite frequently!
oh its been years since ive drawn with my 2mm. i love the traditional command that you have and your portraits/life studies have so much depth.
i think its time to pull out yet old traditional stuff out.
Beautiful skecthes here - as for a thread title "off da HOOK" might work sorta er....
yay!!! These are really great! cant wait to see more
great stuff. i always feel like i've learned something whenever i draw from life, even if the end product isn't something i'm particularly proud of.
is the image in your avatar one of your works? i would very much like to see more of it.
these are some great studies! I need to get to life drawing sessions more often
4 stars? Wat?

Figures drawn with the amazing patience, when it comes to the level of sketch..

To live is to create, to create is to live. Without art and music, I do not know how I would get by in my day to day life.
These are stunning, I saved them for reference
The last one is one of the cleanest, most beautiful drawings I've seen in a really long time.
