you have a beautiful style going on, really nice stuff!
help me better myself as an artist ----->
Thanks all... a quickie IDOW:
Started for CHOW... hopefully I'll see this one until the end...
Lovely work so far! I really really like your last sci-fi painting -- for a quicky it looks really defined and well done. The only crit I have is lies in your color paintings -- try to make the colors blend together a little more, perhaps by utilizing atmospheric light or even just by giving them an overall hue (warm, cool, et cetera). Practicing by using overlay layers.
Overall, lovely work!
Thanks for the feedback, all!
@Sapphire - Yes, color is something that I'm working on... thanks for the advice. I should probably try more washes of color as opposed to local color only.
Ok, so I'm not totally satisfied with this one, but it was a big learning experience for getting back into the groove of painting.
Beautiful sketchbook! Very varied style, I love that. My one tip would be to work on your digital paintings of human faces. Sometimes they come off as mechanical and dead rather than alive and full of character. Like your pre-zombie dinosaur. xD I love that little guy.
Keep it up! Really nice work.
Dana's HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF sketch blog
Hi orion, the last horseman painting is great, thanks for sharing. Are the lighting/glows done with a soft brush?
Keep going, keep drawing!

Thanks all for the feedback and comments.
Dana - Yeah, good observation... I enjoy product design, and therefore a bunch of my character stuff can be robot-y. Working on it...
Pisces - Mixture of soft/hard. I started out with a hard round brush that has a good taper from 100% opacity to 0%... then touched it up afterward with a soft brush to get that glow effect.
Some sketches from the sketchbook... Photo ref for one from The Sartorialist web blog, and another is a Travis Charest copy..
Great ideas! I would love to see more scribbles and presteps AND pencil pages! Thanks for sharing!
Color horseman version added
CGHub is holding a character challenge where you illustrate megaman characters in the medieval (dark ages) setting. Anyways, here's my BombMan.
NeonDuck - Thanks for the feedback... Yeah, I'm still working my way out of my comic book background. I'm looking to start a figure drawing session soon, so hopefully that'll help.
My continuation of Megaman 1 villians, re-envisioned...
Another Megaman 1 re-envisionment. Gutsman this time.
like your creature and totally dig that ID stuff but your characters tend to have some strange proportions
my Sketchbook plz help me become a better artist !
try to more think about color it's muddy when you light up with white and dark out with black...
Thanks all for the feedback. Man, second time someone has mentioned my anatomy woes. I need some help!
Can someone give me pointers? Paint overs. Comments. Anything? I thought these last few were better than the ones at the beginning of the sketchbook?
I learned the 90's comic anatomy (Jim lee, mcfarlane, portacio), which I think has totally effed me up in terms of realistic proportions. I know I need to do more reference drawing... But still, feedback would help a lot.
