this was done during my first few months of being at CA.org (i think.. its one of the earliest pieces i can remember)
this is one of my more recent paintings
(NOV 2008 )
and my most recent WIP
definitely feel i've made some progress
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Here's one of from when I first posted here in 2003:
And here's a portrait that I recently revamped. The one on the left was from yesterday/today; the one on the right was from last week.
At the beggining
first post in my old sketchbook (from about 2005) and the last post from my new one (2009)
agh. 'Not as much improvement as I'd wish, given the time!
The first is my embarrassingly bad self portrait from my junior year in high school. The other is a portrait of a cute girl I made a few months ago. I still got a while to go but looking at this now I definitely think I improved a lot, which is due in no small part to the helpful advice I've gotten from the critique center
Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die
Marvelous work everyone! Sometime soon (within the next month, I have to find some really bad stuff - everything is mixed together) I'll get some "befores" and "afters" up too.
About 6 months ago, when I first found CA, the first thing I posted in the Critique center:
Both are unfinished, but I think the progress shows anyways.
Thought i'd redo one of the first pictures i've ever posted online, back in 2001.
Still a work in progress, but i've only spent a tenth of the time the original took back when.
If anything i've at least gotten faster since then.
The progress in here is so inspiring. I think I'll go draw now.
That was a bit shameful.
Here's my progress in less than a week being mentored in anatomy some time ago:
I still have a long way to go.
From 2006 on it has more to do with school than CA

You all are so inspiring!!
First one's from 2003, had to dreg this from the pits of Elfwood. Second one's from 2006, it took me a year to start up a sketchbook. And the last one's aroun one or two months old, and it should be the last time i've tried to revamp this idea. It's very uplifting to see that with a little goodwill you can get better, it makes the journey ahead a little less arduous.
I've already posted in this thread, but I thought I'd give you guys a look at how far I've come and how I still suck.
And now, look upon my horrors.

Great idea this thread the improvements in these posts are unbelievable .

But even i have to admit there is improvement here.
CHOW Feb 2006.
Nearly 2 years later.
i forgot to add speepaintings and landscapes in my previous post, sorry for the double post.
It's been a really fun journey so far and I know it's only going to get more exciting. Thanks for all the great advice and inspiration everybody.

I love these threads.
First picture is a personal favorite of mine and never fails to remind me why I love this site so much. The top self portrait was drawn when I was 16, the one beneath it was completed a year after I found CA when I was 18.
Now that I am coming up to my third year on CA the picture beneath that is one I am close to losing my patience with currently.
The next is one of my first ever pure imagination sketches I up-loaded and the last is an imagination sketch I completed a couple of months ago.
Cannot beleive I found this I thought I erased all the completly crappie sketches from my comp but one slipped throught the cracks
First attempt at a photoshop self portrait.
