that ones going to be an awesome illustration piece for the portfolio ! i'm pretty sure about that !
those passive glowing plants or stones are a great idea, but as mr.foot says i would also prefer the aggressive fighting dude. just to give the viewer the impression that this is going to be a bloody fight and that this hero is even strong enough to kick that beasts ass ...twice !
rule on mate !
O man you update so much! diggin your colors
also like how your approaching the story telling
keep it up looking forward to seeing more fleshing out of your new peice.
sketchbook updated October 6th
Your colours are so good! I am liking the latest WIP illustration, but it could use some reworking of values for compositional purposes. I think right now you are relying too much on a change of hue to lead the eye.
When I saw this I was instantly reminded of a post by James Gurney, in which he discusses and image nearly the same conceptually that happens to have a similar problem. In his, there is a bunch of light lichen that unintentionally distracts the eye; in yours there are bio luminescent fungi that have the exact same problem. You will probably find this interesting (the relevant image is partway down the page):
"Complacency is the womb of mediocrity. " -- Jason Manley
"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." -- Bruce Lee
Yess! A big difference I like him running away better, much more creative. I've seen plenty of dudes fighting monsters that are way too big for them to realistically handle.
Git some light on that thar figure though! Maybe even just a glint of reflection on the belt buckle. Just a leeetle to subtle right now.
Way to solve problems!
i havent yet decided what to do with the character, well see! thanks!
much appreciated! :3
1 hour thunderdome, topic was "fairytale gone bad"

thanks, ill work on it more!
thanks so much for subbscribblying!
another 60 min. TD! topic was rat/mouse assassin
Just keeps getting better and better my friend! That made a big difference on the figure. Maybe tighten up and put a bit more color on that tentacle closest to him. Make us fear for his life!
(do you mind the crits? I hope they're valuable <<; )
that mouse assasin is AWESOME! I like the colors, very deadly looking!
On that portfolio piece your doing, I think the light from behind is too consistent, you should have it lighter in one area to draw focus, that monsters mouth already draws alot of focus! so maybe have it lighter over by your character, or maybe have more of that glowing algae and light him that way, that would be nice! I really like your colors man, really interesting and nice to look at. Also the character could come to the foreground more? Is there a need for him to be so far away? Unless of course the focus of the painting is the monster, lol in which case forget everything I said haha.
Lol at the rat assasin.

2 studies from today, one from a screencap from Hot Fuzz and the other one is the hottest actress alive (imo). I sure hope i captured the likeness
OMG, your Scarlett Johanssen is so softly shaded! Well done, it looks feminine and tangible. Clearly, fancy colors aren't all you do ;-)
It took me like three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip. It's probably the best drawing I've ever done.
My sketchbook (it'll get good near the end)

And yes it is a new sketchbook! I made another one and still have my old one in my signature (high school)
