first post ever. im still very much a novice at digital painting. basically im lookin to see what you guys think i should do with the bow, looks kinda plain right now. if you're wondering, her bows are conjured magically from her hand. thx ahead of time...oh and PS, this is a female version of Illidan from World of Warcraft.

Some areas are really working well here. and I like the character design and the pose for the most part. You show some good skill.
I'd say the strongest parts are the horns and the sky. The texture and lighting on the horns are really well done but they seem somewhat skewed relative to the head. The clouds in the background are probably the most instantly believable part.
And now the crits!
There are some issues with the anatomy (minor symmetry, proportion and perspective issues throughout) that need attention and the musculature isn't completely believable even for a fantasy creature. These are probably the most important issues to address. The more you practice realistic anatomy, the better you will be able to adapt your skills to depict fantasy anatomy.
The brushwork is very tight in some areas but it is a bit blurry, and rushed in other areas. Not just quick and loose (which can be acceptable) but a little too sloppy. particularly in the bottom of the piece.
My eye is almost immediately drawn to the bow string, but the bow quite blurry and similar in value to the horseflesh so I had some difficulty realizing what it was. Similarly the wisp of green smoke in it's right hand might be an arrow but I'm not sure.
Hope that helps.

The actual bow itself is too in-line with her body. It almost frames her tail at one end and frames the front of her horse-body at the other. This makes it almost appear as part of the horse.
I totally thought it was part of the horsebody at first. The green bowstring "reads" as a separate line at first. Making the bow green or metallic would be one way to solve the problem.
I agree with the others about the bow, its position is unfortunate.
I can't read well the horse part, but there are some problems, for example, the left front leg is somehow out of place, I think the angle isn't quite right, but there may be other issues too... if it should be a horse, the body is very short.
the human part is better, the anatomy issues aren't so serious. there are limb attach problem, at the left arm (right in the picture), it should be a little nearer to the torso, I think. the lower arms are too muscular and the right lower arm and hands are too big.
I agree with SpiBug about the horns.
the clouds are nice, the idea too, I can't crit the render because of lack of knowledge.
sorry for my bad English.
thanks for the posts guys. i think im gonna change the angle on the back and front ends of the bow for starters. making it metalic is always a "safe" choice, but i will try a few things first before going there. the broad shoulders and huge muscles are purposely done....she is a warrior/demon/....thing...lol
i hope to have an update in the next couple days
I understood she's muscular, but the upper arm used to be the more muscular one, not the lower
I'll check the new developments, best wishes!
oh ok...r u saying that her right arm is bigger than here left arm(holding bow)?..it does look slightly bigger...i think here right foremarm will be made a little smaller. i didn't notice the first time but now i do. thx
Well lets address the serious issues 1st: there is a small blotch of green or two on the ground not attatched to the hooves. The bow looks somewhat phalic & her right iris is a quarter of a centimeter lower than her left iris yet it should be the other way around. Lastly she should have bigger nipples. Have you seen horse nipples?!? Oh and there are a few stray hairs that are slightly crisper than some other blurry hairs, I'll add my 2hr paintover in my next post to show you the errors you're experiencing with anatomy as well.
Other than that, awesome artwork Wei.. er *ahem* I mean "P-Dawg"
Photoshop paintover, 2hr, should point out the chief issues
arizonaicetea: I don't think you are serious in the slightest amount, so I won't comment your post, but I wish to say if you make such things, go to Oooh's and Ahhhhhhh's! in the IT'S FINALLY FINISHED!! area and play there.
and you probably watch too much porn.
arizonaicedtea, this isn't the place to play around. Go find Deviantart.
hey just to let u guys know, arizonaicedtea is a friend of mine here at work who was playing a joke on me with his posts. i just noticed it today. its an inside joke amongst us here at work and he didnt mean to offend anyone. he would never do something like this seriously. thanksangain for the positive crits that i have recieved.
