This has got a very cool 'dream-like' feeling to it, probably due to the pastel effect you've got going on and the soft mark making! I've got no crits at all - as all of the components which make up this piece seem to work really well together (your chosen colours work great imo!). The only thing that stands out, whether for better or worse, are the flowers. For some reason, i cant quite make up my mind whether they work or not.
Overall, great stuff - would love to see more.
- difficult is worth doing -
thanks Ibbo the dream-like effect is exactly what I was going for. Yea I know what you mean about the flowers...they are pretty awkward to do with a 'loose' image. I will have to look at it after not seeing it for a few days and see if I can find any way to improve it. Its so hard when you have been staring at something for so long!
Lovely picture - I like how the colors work in the sky particularly. I think the flowers work; if they are a bit different than the rest of the picture, it's because they should be. They are clearly an important part of the story.
I know what you mean about looking at something too long - so many of my pictures looks so much better after I've hidden them in the back of the cupboard for six weeks. Of course, some of them look significantly worse, too! It's hard to see it 'fresh'.
I like the idea and concept lots...the brush for the sand texture looks nice to, and the boy does look dreamy like they said!
although as for the flowers path, for composition works for me, only not the way the overlay on everything else, doesn't get the feeling of belonging to the same place yet, could be that need some color and value thinking, that will get more the "wow" factor and yet the "ooh why is there" feeling when you see it. Great work overall ! and congrats !
Axel's Gallery Art you?
i think the flowers can be improved by not having them all face the viewer. it's very pretty either way
