Hi, this is my first ever acrylic painting.
I am having problems with choosing the right colour to use as a dark, the orange yellow is only there to cover up a spill I made earlier which would have distorted the whole skull. I have already chose a colour which I think is interesting for drapery.
I have set up the drapery many times before and can't seem to find a set up which will draw your eyes more toward the skull without looking too dull or flat itself.
Thanks for the read, below is the drawing-this is the on tracing paper which I used to get the drawing from my original study to the canvas.
Darkeagle; at the moment your skull seems to be floating above the drapery with no visible means of support. Is it a human skull? Are you using reference?
I'm not sure what the two arched areas above the eyes are,and I'd check the angle of the brow.
Where are the creases and shadows in your drapery? What colours will you use for the shadows there? Colour from the drapery will reflect onto the skull and affect highlights and shadows there.
Try taking the image a little further forward and then ask for help....
