And finished this one too!
Yeah I'm a big fan of The Last Unicorn lol.
Your sketchbook is so inspirational!
Rookie Sketch book My Sketchbook ^_^ Critque Wanted!
NizhoniWolf: Thanks very much!!
Well I don't have much to show right now, just a crappy little sketch poop that I did while I was playing around.
Wow, this is such a great sketchbook, great style! Such a lovely watercolour feel to your images, love the ninja Alice and the clockwork girl.
Thanks for posting up the process pieces, interesting to see. Would love to see a process shot/video of how you build up your colours.
Naked Ninja: Thanks a lot!! Ha ha my coloring style is probably not very good- I'm surprised anybody would be interested in seeing it I'll try to put up some in progress shots of the color part on my next finished piece though since you asked
Just got some ink drawings and wip stuff right now, the holidays are a time sucker for sure. I've also got some pet portrait commissions that I'm trying to finish that take time away from more fun art projects
Just had a quick gander, it's cool to see how far you've come since you first started this SB! Keep it up!
whoa i went thru your entire sketchbook and its all amazing
would love some feedback on how often you drew in that 2-3 year period, you were good then but now your amazing..and you seem to have developed your own style too
You have a wonderful sketchbook Dreoilin!
The last updates are amazing, especialy the girl with the white hair. Will you finish her?
A Faux: Thanks! I think about 2-3 years ago was when I started going to a local figure drawing group once a week- before then I had not seen very good improvements. Figure drawing really did a lot for me- it made my anatomy a lot better, made me faster at drawing observationally, and got me into experimenting more than I had been with the media I used. Also, I've been gradually ramping up my motivation- especially a couple months ago when I really said- "Now I'm gonna get better, or die trying" and started trying to draw at least a couple hours every day lol.
Now it's to the point where my schedule is: 8 am- go to work till 5pm. Come home and spend a little time with husband (maybe cook dinner if he's really lucky lol), and draw until between 1 and 2 am, then go to bed. On weekends or time when I have days off, I try to not sleep at all at least one night and just draw. Some weekends I draw pretty much the whole weekend.
Olivier H: Thanks! Yep, since I'm off today I plan to work on her a little more along with other projects
Well here's the dryad picture finally finished, seems like I've been working on her off and on for awhile. Just kept starting other pictures instead lol. I've included some wip shots of my color process on this one- there's not much to show actually. I just work in lots of layers- building the colors up gradually almost like glazing I guess- and I use lots of overlay layers for altering colors as well as adding in the cool watercolor texture.
Quick post before bedtime- some pencils ready to be inked. I can't wait... that's my favorite part for sure
I think you should do some designs for things like chairs, beds, frames and glassware and textiles, your lines would really suit 3d objects.

You have been adding some really nice stuff in here! I like your half painted half drawn style. It looks like a mix of traditional watercolors and oils, but I'm guessing digital?
It's interesting what you said about the times you draw. It is very simular to my own drawing schedule... Makes me wonder how many other people on CA are nights/weekend artist like me.
Well not much to show- I haven't gotten nearly as much work done over the holidays as I was hoping to. My wrist and hand really started acting up- especially hurting a lot when I draw My cousin (who's a physical therapist) looked at it and said it was precursor to carpal tunnel syndrome, and gave me some good advice on things to do for it. I think it's been getting better, especially after I started wearing a brace on it at night. It still tends to hurt when I'm drawing, especially for extended periods- so I'm trying to stretch it and take lots of breaks. It really sucks!!!
Some fanart- the twilight piece was for my best friend and my sister- I hesitated to post it here, since there probably aren't many twilight fans here lol, but I kind of liked how the picture turned out. Maybe the Skyrim fanart will make up for it
Also a sketch for the ArtOrder challenge going on right now.

Sorry to hear about your hand and wrist pain, but nevertheless I think you have a really spectacular style. All I can offer is encouragement: keep doing you!
Vulgar': Fortunately the wrist has been getting better ever since I got a brace to wear at night. The encouragement is much appreciated- that's the stuff that keeps me going when I feel like everything I do is poop (which can be often )
Fiddling a bit more.... time to move to ink I think.
Coming along slooooowly...
ur style reminds me of Boris Vallejo alot.. i dont know if u know him or not but i think if u started using oil for ur paintings . its gona look alot more like his paintings... fantastic job.. im huge fan of fantasy art. .. dragons and fairies.. i like this sketchbook alooot... good job ^_^
i love to do everything and learn everything... i hate to be cornered in one place.. i believe u can be anything u want... Your mind is limitless... check out my sketchbook ... u will find a bit of everything
the lines for your latest piece are awesome.
Rain Walker: Thanks! Never thought of my stuff as looking like Boris Vallejo- I will have to check him out more! I've never been a fan of oils, but I really want to get back into watercolor and acrylics more.
Well I'm pretty sure I'm done with this piece. Also, still working on the Levi artorder challenge as well- running out of time though!
Umbravita: Thanks! Unfortunately I feel like the skeleton picture might have turned out to be something of a disappointment...
Here's the finished ArtOrder Levi challenge pic. Kind of rushed on the colors, so I might still go back and work on it a little at some point. The ArtOrder challenges have been fun, and I got some good crits- but also seeing my stuff next to all the amazing entries being done by other people makes me pretty depressed. I think I'm currently in a really low point- I just feel like everything I do is crap and worthless, and nobody cares to look at it. This happens sometimes, all I can do is keep drawing and hopefully climb out of the funk
Hey haven't been here for a while. I like that crazy dragon lady. Have you ever thought of branching out into an alternate rendering style? I'd just love to see some more intense lighting in your work. That tree for example would be perfect!
Wicked!! But I actually find myself liking the clean b/w lineart versions the best. ^^
