One of these days I hope to be as good as all the awesome artists I see on this site- I'm not even close but I'll keep trying and trying! Any help (advice or crits) would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted anything here! I started going to figure drawing (yaaaay figure drawing ) so I have a backlog of stuff to post. I guess I'll start with the oldest (that I can find anyway) and post in batches. Don't know how much improvement there's been, but it's been lots of fun and I've experimented a little bit.
These first ones are boring as crap though lol
Another boring batch.
Another batch. Trying some new mediums. Much more fun than graphite alone.
Hmmm, these last two didn't make it into the last post.
Aaaand another batch.
I can see improvement already!
I would reccomend focusing a bit more time on the shadow shapes. Go ahead and draw the shadow shapes just like you do the outline of the figure. It will help solidify the drawings and give them more volume. Keep it up

Ging: thanks! I think the drawings on toned paper lose a lot when I scan them- that colored pencil doesn't show up as much which may account for the weakness of the shadows (they seem stronger in person) but I will try to pay more attention to them as well!
Heres some anatomy studies and a speedpaint. I need to get back into some more spontaneous and creative sketching - but I actually really enjoy the anatomy studies (and lord knows I need to work on my anatomy lol)
Even moooore figure drawing! I've been slacking way off on drawing/painting anything else- but lately I've been distracted by sculpting. Clay is fun! No pictures of my sculpting attempts yet though.
Wow it's been a really long time since I've posted here!! I have a lot of stuff (which I will probably never get around to posting lol)- here's a few things from the gap before I post new stuff.
Here's some finished chow entries and some not so finished entries (which I continue to work on when I have time).
Very nice SB, the figures are pretty good, the portraits look fantastic too, and im digging those anatomy studies on toned paper! keep it up !
rem92: Thanks very much!!
Well I haven't had much time to draw, but I at least try to keep at these studies.
Some more boring crap studies. I am so so so tired of having no time to really work on anything
edit: but woohooo! page 2
Well I've been working on finally finishing my zodiac warrior chow- kind of restarted with the lineart. Still needs a little work maybe (and color lol).
And a reeeaaaallly rough sketch for the alice chow going on this week.
Thanks for the kind words me lady. You've made some great progress in here, that line art is gorgeous!
GEB: Thank you thank you! I really admire your work- you don't know how excited I was you commented in my sb
I've been playing around with studies and sketches- I think I'm ready to buckle down and try to work on that alice chow now
Your figure studies are showing good improvement since the beginning of this sketchbook. Very nice graphites and line art! Keep drawing, posting, improving!
Jephyr X: Thanks! I definitely plan to keep drawing and posting (hopefully the improvement will keep happening )
Here's the chow pencil sketch- they never turn out the way they look in my head
kmoeini: Thanks! I definitely plan to keep trying. It's really good to hear that I have been improving- it inspires me to work harder and harder!!
Well I've been pulling an all nighter to get this chow finished- still have a ways to go
this is great! when you ink things in it really tightens them up nicely
and reminds me of this
one thing i might say is there could be more interest down by the feet, say some grass, some kicked stones, maybe a rabbit, or a soul being trampled underfoot! you know what i mean...
nice work so far!

Velocity Kendall: Wow thanks! I'm very inspired by the look of printmaking and woodcuts (even though I don't do them myself) and I especially love Durer, so I'm thrilled that my picture would remind you of that You're absolutely right too, the ground is a little boring. I will definitely add some details down there! Thank you!
I think I'm finished with my Alice in Wonderland chow. I'll have to see how it looks on my laptop- I think I really need to calibrate the monitor of my working computer- colors always seem to suck. That could also be because I suck at color lol
metalhead3: Oh wow thanks! I don't know about that... but I'll certainly keep trying
I've been slacking on my studies a little to work on chows the past few days (although I do have some I haven't scanned yet). Here's a sb page where I did some life drawing at a festival (belly dancers and a crazy guy with a mad hatter top hat who was on stilts- didn't really get to draw him like I wanted too cause he moved away- so he's been covered with a sticky sketch lol) and work on this weeks chow- the dreamweaver.
Quick update on the chow before I run to work!
Aaannd the dreamweaver chow again. I think it's done...

Well I've really been slacking on my studies- really need to get back to that Chow has been taking all my limited time though. Decided to do the one this week as well- theme is steampunk coppelia (a dancing doll created by a scientist who falls in love with her). It was too cool a challenge to pass up
So here's my sketchy mess so far...
The Alice in wonderland is very interesting represented. And the last two have their charm too.
I like your style.
