Hey I read your comment at my sketchbook and realy realy apreciated. Thanks a lot.
I've been seeing your stuff and let me tell you, your illustrations are absolutly fascinating!!
Congrats and keep on!!
birthday gift for a friend.
goin partying today.
yeah. no effort here, not trying to make things right here.
this viewtiful joe poster used for the style and general pose of this....manly man guy. a;lsjfhasdflaskdf
that's freaking awesome
Whoa, that latest one of yours is awesome.
Super Prince of All Cosmos FTW.
What did you use for that? Markers? It looks really nice.
Check out my sketchbook.
on page 1 when you say "Skipped the front page for reasons I just don't understand..." do you mean you skipped the first page on your sketchbook and started on the second? because I always do that and I thought I was the only one. Whenever I get a new sketchbook I just scribble on the first page because I know I'll fuck it up otherwise and then my whole sketchbook will be half-hearted and gross.
Anyway, I love your work. keep it up. I especially love the Tako piece with the squid.
davi: thank yoooouuu
BadGeometry: Thanks. ;D Yeah, it's prisma, I was gonna work with watercolor, but spilled water once on the same paper, and it bubbled up really odd. ._.
Ronald Liu: Yeah. x__x Not quite ready for that yet, though. D:
Cohen: LOL. Yeah. The first page is always the one page people...y'know...see first. xD; I always screw up on it, so I leave it blank, hoping i'll think of something awesome to draw there later. I never do. .__.
Robert B. ^_____^
Mydrim Haha, it's actually all based on an inside joke in my circle of friends--birthday boy included. Would not make sense even if I tried to explain it, lol
trying to paint a face. no ref. god i suck, but at least I'm having fun...with this new tablet~
I'd paint more, but i just reminded myself of the GIANT DEADLY ANTHROPOLOGY MIDTERM TOMORROW that I have to study for tonight. I'll paint more today when I feel i have what it takes to slay the midterm dragon tomorrow morning. x_x
also. something old from ap design. i felt bad for posting one little turd picture. so have two.
That crappy face in the last post is almost embarrassing. >__>.
Here's my Last Teen Standing Round 1 entry. [Possibly the only round I'll participate in, this piece is crap. lol]
From ideation to final. Trying to get into the habit of thinking up my projects before acting on them. Gotta ...think MORE.
My theme was "sign[of life]".
If I said this wasn't influenced by that stupid philosophy class I took earlier this summer, I'd be lying.
All of reality is in your head.
The entire universe--nothing but a collection of ideas, floating about in your brain.
Everything you've experienced? Fraud.
Everyone you've experienced? It never happened.
It's just you.
All just you.
Every sign of life you see is a lie.
It's all in your head.
Things to improve upon, before the next round of Last Man Standing That is, if I make it..
1. Human Anatomy. Especially what comes after the torso. I have confidence from the head to the belly button [sorta], but when I went any further, I'm clueless, for the most part. Must. Learn. The bottom half of the human being. Also. Arms.
2. Communicating my theme with my picture, only. I shouldn't have to rely on a paragraph or blurb for people to get my image. Must. Learn. To. Speak. With. Images. NOW.
3. Seems that all the other pieces in this competition are done digitally. I feel inadequate with this two dimensional, backgroundless crud illustration in watercolor and ink. Actually, I doubt it's the media I work in, but how I espress my point. Maybe I should have a "3rd dimension" in my next illustration [whether it's in this challenge or just some personal work], since it's a big weakness of mine. ...I should get a hang of digital anyway, it's getting popular.
Feel free to add more to this...to do list, lol.
Thank you, Call0ps and Arttorney.
Did a few studies, that I'll update with when I get my scanner back from my brother. ._.
Tried to draw a figure...to see what I know...and what I don't.
Something sank in during those studies, my hips look less retarded.
I guess I have to restock in the limbs department. ;o
those studies I talked about.. hips. Still have lots to learn..
got frustrated by how horribly i draw, so took part in the Spartan Camp challenge, and did 50 gestures of random things in my room, as well as some class/car drawings i did this week. they're horrible, but if I do them every week, they won't be horrible for long. ;D
the super serious samurai pic would be a gift for my dad. lol it doesn't make sense, but I still like how it turned out and i hope he does too.
and the fishies--my poor attempt to cheer my boyfriend up.

Hey a la, This is quite a nice sketchbook me thinks... Flowing from the first page to the last, its apparent when you have realized you are lacking in an area and then you go study it and the differences are huge. Kudos. I Think there's an underlying graphical quality to some or your pieces, you should explore that a bit more, maybe even a little vector work might appeal? Eitherway, keep doing what your doing ;-)
Hey A la Bapsi,
I agree with Randalthor, that big mix of color images mixed together style would completely lend itself to illustrator. Not to say you shouldn't keep up your digital sketch practice and your anatomy etc, etc. I love the fishies!
#134 "gotta think more" Well, not totally sure about that. Myself, I don't think too much
Anyway, it's great you try hard- especially the 134 and 138 refined figures. I know it's difficiult to deal with whole the body from mind and sometimes it might not look amazing and errors happens, but I am sure it will paid of.
The Last Teen entry maybe turned a little "deviantart cheesy", but hey, we all did that sometimes (and as I said, it's a good fight with the anatomy). I guess the thing is that the good artists see that and get better, the bad ones just render it more
Now about the Randhaltor's graphical quality- i don't think yours that underlying. And also, thougth every skill plus is a win, I won't suggest sparing time with vectors when you are into drawing and don't believe it helps with understanding the graphical whatever.
Btw I like very much the room things gestures. And all in all, you are doing great, keep it on!
Thanks Mydrim, Christian.m, and Randalthor. I'll give vector work a try, never hurts to try new things. :]
One problem I've had is that I seem to unlearn everything I study in a matter of days. Hours even. Maybe it's because I'm trying to tackle a jillion things at once to get better, and I'm just spreading myself too thin, which can leave me learning very little before it's time to begin my portfolio for school.
Maybe I need some sort of focus to put all of my energy in, like figure drawing or landscapes [but which skill is most important?..life drawing?]..or maybe i need a teacher who knows what I need to do and learn to improve, instead of lolling in circles like I feel I am now. >__>
;aslkdjf I just need your input, guys.
I don't want to post with no picture, so here's part one of something i was working on and...kinda sorta walked away from.
Wanted to draw a head, with no ref [in all of its disproportionate, cruddy glory], then draw one with ref [ the ref being me in a mirror, since I should get the hang of drawing from something that's not a flattened photo].
Then, trying the no reffed head again, to see what I absorbed in that session.
Yeah. part one, with the no reffed head. haha it looks horrible.
love your sketches ,the faces with the white eyes and all
the stuff what's surrounding it. big fan of the color work to
'ej Thank you. :] I really should paint more.
Yeah, not much today. I felt really gloomy and groggy earlier today...until I opened my bedroom window and GASP. Sunlight!
Never knew a little natural light could change my mood so much. x]
Yeah the camera was closer to me than the scanner. lol.
Really didn't do anything spectacular..
A couple of gestures, some random notes, and fun with charcoal and crayons..
and here's my workspace, while i'm at it. see that white light? that's the sun. o__o amazing.
Very cool drawings. I like the marker and colored ones a lot. Also, I must say, nice tablet (same one I don't have! )
Hey I know that face... you saw any of Krinkes' stuff?
Haha. Anyway, your stuff is looking pretty solid! Good job man!
Augmenton & A Tua Mãe: Thanks, lol.
Shpow.Iain: Never heard of him, but LOL. Love that flash movie. xD
I can't post any trad sketches at the moment, but here's a dsg from last night.
I was in a one hour thunderdome with ChaosRocks and BadGeometry and did it..
I need to get better at speedpainting. And I should also probably get myself into color when it comes to painting in general.
Can't wait til the next topic comes up, so I can practice more.
grounded at the moment, but i'll post today's stuff with tomorrow's when i'm allowed to use my mom's camera. >_>
well, for now, here's that digital self portrait i gave up on on the third.
just wanted to finish the monstrosity and get it out of my head.
lol you can tell what part irritated me. the mouth. >_>
yes i have no pupils tyvm.
