thank you lilnebo!
one piece characters and random things + a few studies
There are a few things that you can do to prevent smudging. My personal favorite is simply putting a piece of scrap paper under my drawing hand. Or, if you are confident enough, save the rendering for the very last. Get your linework solid before you add value. Also--it might help to draw lighter. No need to carve the lines and values into the paper, just let the pencil slide. Drawing lighter can also give you more contrast. If most of the drawing is light, the really dark darks will POP. I'm sure that others will have different, better, solutions so keep your ears open.
Thanks Sedig, I'll try that paper trick next time
Trying to leap in to Ps for awhile, still hard to get over the colorwheel+rotating in Painter
it's basically a mess consisting of good brushes done a la talented person
newbie, around 1h I wish I had more time for once, but I can always work on it later :]
It is quite distorted :|
that painting is actually pretty nice I think. The facial structure isokayand the colors work. The hat might be a little of, but that canalways be explained with a bad fashion-sense . Those scull-studies are rad, too. Verrrrrrrrry important!
More great stuff man, good to see your working hard on your studies to
I am always pleasently suprised by your choice of colours i think its kooky in a
good way. Keep it up, I wanna see you improve.
nice digital jobss i like this
Hello it's been awhile, I havnt been able to post I'm afraid, as my own PC is not in shape to be used
Thank you ~Faust~, I guess I should look up somekind of an etiquette for hats, as I just like to draw them, yet I have no idea how, kind of like ships :p
Remmy - thank you for the kind words and motivation
destinyapocalypse - Glad you like them!
Anyhoo, I've been laying around at a summer cottage and drawing with traditional media and hacking some paintings apart with an axe (almost atleast :p ).
I'm quite unhappy with the fact that my PC had my studying material on it, and I havn't been able to use it at all, and the small village library close to the summer cottage didn't have anything I was looking for, although I did grab a few books from there.
After drawing with charcoal sticks and pencils for awhile I found myself at a small island camping with a bunch of friends, and noticed that the coal from the fire was really nice and something I wan't to use more!
I got home today and didnt really have anything else to do so I scanned some things from the sketchbook I've been carrying around while sitting in a car/bus.
*crap I put the drawings in too big of lumps, got to cut the files down a bit :p
I'll edit them in around 15minutes if this old pc keeps on living
*still 2 more to add

first try at a self portrait, yes I do look like a baby, but something isnt quite right here.
Anyhoo this was done in a hurry standing infront of a mirror on bad paper in an hour, just wanted to get it over with if you know what I mean. I was afraid that it would come out nothing like myself, but that is not entirely the case! :p
I'm going to head to a shop and buy some proper paper and some pencils and then I'll work on another one, with lengthier session
Hey man, lots of pages and tons of ideas, you should take them further, at least some of them. I'm really digging the loosess but not that much the lack of structure, and the anatomy issues in the arms and legs.
Anyways, you have a lot to play with but also you should take your time studying more of these subjects to enrich your ideas.
Anyways, good to see you're working hard.
Hey Diego, thanks for your comment!
and yes my anatomy is very lacking, I was able to study the head, and then my pc went dead and so did the studymaterial I had grabbed off from here and there
There were no real books on the subject at the small village library which was located close to me while I was away from home, I did look at some images and photos to digure out the leg a bit, hands are still a mystery.
About taking fuerther, yes I am planning on using some of these sketches for digipaints, black/white at first, and maybe try color on them later if I feel confident enough.
Going to start asking questions about my pc components right about now, like when am I getting them back....
Very small changes, maybe too small to post...

Nice variety of stuff you have here. From what I can see I would encourage you to put some time into studying anatomy if you haven't yet. I like the acrylic stuff as well, quite good resemblance to reality.
Hi there, fellow finlander! Great sketches, I especially like your use of colours - the digitally painted pieces look very nice.
tschahri - hey hey Thanks!
yousa - thanks, I guess I'm just plain stupid when it comes to anatomy, I dp try to learn, everythings ok when I'm copying and studying a subject, but putting it to use is somewhat hard for me, so I guess it just needs some extra work
jedininjaman - Thank you, I assume you were talking about the pencils, and yes my pencil technique is very bad, I wish it will work out someday :p
was finally able to get somethings working onthis old pc so I tried some coloring, I guess I'll do another one in a row now. The UI of painter isnt quite working right now, so I got tired of working on the image, but I hope to return to it when I get my own PC back!
I've got a few more things up my sleeves, but it'll be awhile. By the way I like your digital stuff, you seem to be making some headway.
CKLamb - Thank you! Oh and, IŽll be watching!
Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook! Good to see some new faces in there.
You know was trying to come up with something no one has said about your SB yet, came up dry and then it occured to me that many of your poses are similar in stance. I just ran into a handout (really, these things just happen) by Vilppu--on gesture drawing. I never understood the difference between gesture drawing and a quick sketch until now. I think I'll give this a whirl myself cause I get 'stuck' on certain poses.
My second name is Matias, nice to meet you.
You are pretty good! The poses of your characters look a bit stiff though. The one problem I see is that the head is almost always going straight up from the neck. Try to get more variation with that, it might bring more life to your sketches.
Maridius - Thank you for taking the time to share the link! Another good place to draw poses is posemaniacs, I have some sketches from posemaniacs in this SB if you want to see what kind of gestures it has, or jsut try googling it(the bestestest of answers :p). I shall try to put extra thought on studying poses from now on!
Thank you Taneli, I think you hit a goldvein!
Not quite sure which version I find better, I guess the one with more hues.
Byy the way, apparently I have been downgrading quite a bit as the 2 last reviewer have given me a bad and a terrible for grades(2 and 1 stars) - any ideas on what I've been doing wrong lately? :-\ (once again it's not that I spend my time atching stars on topics, it's just that I'm not stupid in the sence of lowgrade math and can't help but to notice the grades I get. Trivial, yes, but still it's a bit of a downer)
Got to do some anatomy studies after sleep, can't ait for that PC of mine to get back in condition

started doing a B/W of this guy, I'm going to take this one a bit slower I think, thats why I decided to take a break on it now and go preactice some tennis serve
turned out kind of wierd, I think I'll still need to work on this
"motherfucker stole my horse"
quick color on a sketch from the scans earlier, just wanted to do something before I hit the sack for awhile
Yay, and for today; I'm sick :|
