Ok so I haven't posted on CA for god knows how long. I've retreated back to my cave of lurking. But I feel I finally am working on something worth posting up. Anyways, I just started this guy over the weekend, been reading a ton of tutorials and gathering another ton of reference. This is my first attempt with sculpey and my first true attempt at 3D. Comments and Criticism are more than welcome. I plan to keep this updated often, walking through my whole process.

I wonder if it is something you have to earn based on post count? I am not able to add thumbnails yet myself.
Is this going to be something similar to the smellybug creature?
Ok so here's an update. I've been really lazy about uploading the pics but I've been keeping up with the progress. But she's almost completed as far as sculpting. I've been trying to hold off as long as possible between baking but it gets tough to transport around. Also, I have to paint it... and I'm kinda terrified about that. Anyone have any good painting tips? Comments and Critiques are more than welcome guys.
CastorFiber - Yea, this is turnin out a lot like the smellybug tutorial. I'd be a liar and a bad one if I said it didn't get a lot of inspiration from Bug's work. My initial concept came from watching The Mist. I did some sketches and built the armature and once I started adding the sculpey I started looking at that tutorial for guidance, because I had NO idea how to do any of this until a few days ago. But my initial concept was just an amalgamation of any of these creatures from modern day science fiction. I've taken a lil inspiration from everything really.

It is looking killer!
Man, looking pretty nice... I think I might follow along on this sculpture that I've been working on at home. I just need to learn how to achieve texture in 3D
Yes, yes, yes! I want it to bite something!!!
Ok, so finals week absolutely killed me. I had no time or reasonable cause to post with all the other stuff I had to finish up. but here's what I've managed to add since the last update. Before its asked I'm using Citadel paints overtop two colors of satin finish spray paint
Man, you guys who pick up some Sculpey and do something like this the first time
out really piss me off. If I showed my first Sculpey piece, I'd get laughed out of every art
forum I frequent. This is really fantastic dude and I'm looking forward to seeing all of your

ok, here it is all finished. I still need to make a more appropriate base. I picked up some Stone texture spray paint and some spray foam insulation. I also did a speedpaint for the background, which is based mostly off of some Crysis enviro's I saw in "It's finally finished". Please let me know if anything looks off. Thanks to everyone whose been keeping track on it and commenting
Man, your finished sculpture looks great, but I wouldn't ruin that with the background... hope that doesn't sound mean
I'd flesh that background out as much as the sculpture is. Try to get it looking equally good, maybe fade it out or blur it out a little bit so that your sculpture really POPS out
that thing looks kinda real like. i would really like seeing it jump around my desk nice work
