Matt thanks, I say if you want to paint just go for it, grab some gear and get stuck in.
The ones with the benches are tiny little thumbnails really, I'm going to do a bunch of them and see which ones might work on a larger scale, hopefully if it looks good a couple of inches across it'll work at a couple of feet, this is the theory anyway.
Purplegoat, thanks. I've been trying to keep things a bit livelier and not overnoodle the hell out of everything but I often step back from the thing and realise I've gone too tight again..
Figures, some are from life but the majority are from ref that I shot myself. I've also used figure drawing reference books, stock photography (with permission), frankensteined multiple sources together and just plain old made stuff up.
The exception would be the first attachment in post #27 which is the first in a series I'm doing loosely based on imagery from Jacques Rivettes 1991 film "La Belle Noiseuse", this is a wip of the second in the series.
So the other day I'm rummaging through the still not unpacked moving house boxes looking for a stapler, a screwdriver or something.
I didn't find it but I did unearth a stash of ancient, unused coloured inks, gouache, watercolour and other random materials.
