I think the apple is the strongest thing here. I would say avoid using lines to render stomach muscles. Use shading instead. Ab muscles don't actually look like that. I second Kingshaj, draw from life or photographs to build your understanding of forms.
It seems to me like you're having problems blocking in colors and shades. Start by going from a midtone to your darkest dark and slowly (in small steps) adding light to the areas that need it.
I agree with Lake... I'm just learning photo shop and limit myself to two or three brushes. People have been very helpful in comments of cleaning up edges... My edges were really blurry and made the object fade into the painting... on your apple the edges are a lot like mine, clean the blurred edges and the apple will pop... good apple. Kelly
thanks for the advice ill take that into consideration about the dark tones etc. ill stick to the simple brushes for now.
