Hey all, I have been busy with a "children's book" in the vain of the scary stories books. Any way here is the cover, which I posted awhile back, and a sampling of the 21 interior illustrations.
I love that severed horse head so very much.
I don't think I ever asked you..When is the release date on this?
Dude, this is going to scare the crap out of kids!
I might've added a little warmth to the skull surrounded by the 4 candles,
but that's a personal choice more than a criticism.
I hope you're doing well!
- Dan Dos Santos
Congratulations on giving a whole new generation of children nightmares!

Love the mermaid, she reminds me the Disney one but in much better
dude....thats freaking scary, seriusly, great job!
The last 2 aren't doing it as much for me as the others, less finished maybe too.
The others are both beautiful and sending chills down my spine, brilliant work !!!!
(bigger & bold so it doesn't disappear between my blahblah remarks)
I agree with DS on the skull + candles remark, the brown in the other illu's add a lot of warmth and depth. The candle wax on the table is maybe also a little rough and doesn't follow the perspective of the table (but what do I now ?) ?
Faxtar-Thanks Matt, how are things going?
Babbey- Thanks Tom, middle of August, I am hoping to have advance copies at comic-con for anyone who wants to check it out
DS-Thanks Dan, these are actually going to be printed B&W. The warmth is just the underpainting, somethings are easier to do pickout. All that being said you are of course correct
Elwell- Thanks Tristan, this was actually a dream, one I didn't know I had, come true. I loved these books when I was a kid
REGNIRUTH-Thanks, that is one of my favorites as well
Spookybabydoll-Can you guess the moviestar I used for ref? I hope not.
NightVision- These are going to be printed at different sizes, and the last two I believe will be very small, and you are right about the candle wax I really struggled with that, and never got it quite right.
Really nice stuff, particularly the mermaid and the bell (I've got a thing about the unfinished painting look - top notch!). What mediums / sizes?
scratch that, just checked out your website, so I know they're oils (and so they should be!) - really nice site and illustrations, I've never tried maisonette, I might try and give it a go as all the americans appear to be using it?
