Hi everyone, first post here at CA! This was my first attempt at using photoshop so I'm still learning all the tricks/tools when it comes to digital painting. I was hoping to get some honest feedback on this before I got too involved in the details...it's supposed to be a fanart of the dark elf blackguard from Warhammer. Thanks in advance!
First time with PS? Very good start
Few things: works in progress are reserved for the WIP/studies forum, as the crit center is for more finished stuff. No biggie though.
Her face looks to be skewed, as if it's turning too far to us while her head is facing forward. Hard to explain, but try making a box around her head and notice how the eyes slope a bit to far this way. Might become more apparent.
Her face colours are getting a bit muddy. Colours are usually more saturated in the midtones, so add some more saturated colour to those areas.
Good job and keep going
Thanks for the feedback jason and elemental, and yeah I should have posted in the WIP section, I didn't notice it until after making the post ><
I saw what you mentioned about the face perspective being wacky, I guess I got lost in making the details of the face that I stopped seeing the whole head. I thinned down the face and repositioned it so that it makes a little more sense. I was really hesitant at first about using color, but after experimenting a little bit it started to look more 'fleshed out.'
Thanks for the constructive criticism so far!
ohhh i cant wait to see this done
Seriously... lets all go to Denny's and order some Waffles!!!!!
Finally finished (or at least, stopped working on it for now)...I left out details here and there and the perspective on that sword is off. I spent a lot of time trying to get it down and I think I just eventually gave up. I spent most of my time on the chest armor and face and by the time I got to the end, I just ran out of steam. There must be a better way to do metal blades! Please let me know what I need to improve on for the next one! I learned a lot just doing this, and the only way I can get to the 'next level' is with your help

on a side note: This is actually fanart of a video game (warhammeronline)...I watermarked it because I was afraid of theft, but is it right to put the 'copyrighted' symbol on it?
On your next piece, try starting out in B&W only. This will simplify the process for you and it will be easier to determine the light source.
Once you have all values down, then colorize it and start adding different hues.
As for the lady warrior, everything looks good but I would really concentrate on the hair and face for the next one you do.
Also, I noticed on this one, you gave her scars very early in the process. Those types of details should really wait until the very end.
