Junge Junge.. kannst du mir nicht ein bisschen von deiner Produktivität abgeben? ^^
Damn, ich muss mich mal in PS üben, hab mein Wacom seit fast nem Jahr und noch nichts mit gemacht xD.
Sonst alles klar? Wie läuft's Studium?
Hey guys what's up
~Faust~, thanks mate!
sketcheth, haha dude, I can't decide whether you flattered me or insulted her by saying that, I'm guessing both. Thanks though haha Aaaand you're probably right about the strokes! I can't seem to figure it out right now, seems I'll have to find a way to practice brushstrokes.
DreamstateIvory, whoah thanks a lot! Hmmm I doooooo think I'll search for some freelance jobs, but I still wanna go to artschool because that will give me some new perspectives and also a few more years to grow.
purb36, wow thanks mate! And that painting looks great, thanks!
Zeitwolf, thank you! Though actually, there was no photo reference involved at all. D: But thanks for all those hints. You know so much!
Asa my dear, thanks, and yes brush strokes D: Much to learn.
Yutani, you see But don't worry, I wasn't insulted at all. And you DO have a point. it's just, for learning, anything goes.
ohnojenny, what people are talking about me? D: Thankees!
zulu, whoooo thanks, I'll try!
lilnebo, and I'm like -> Thanks! And you are already improving like crazy, if you want more, you gotta practice more!
Sedig, thank you! And you're right, I went completely overboard But! I was experimenting. And I learned a lot. And that's what counts You're probably right about the values, I gotta tackle that harder. Values are hard to see on drapery. Thanks mate!
Autumnal Dream, haha, your fault for being lazy! Danke danke. Studium hab ich mittlerweile abgebrochen D: Jetzt wird geübt. Von früh bis spät.
SnobbyOo, whoooo thanks buddy! *highfives*
ChuanMing, hey thanks!
Sooooo today and yesterday I started getting into something I never did before, which would be weapon design! And it's lots of fun!
Here's some alien gun.
Aaaaand yesterday I taught myself how to 3D model @___@ And I gotta say it's a rather exhausting task. Here's my first result using Blender Dx Pretty sure this thing is completely dysfunctional, but I learned a lot.
Another 2D concept... don't this this one would work either, but it looks cool. Lol.
Yesterday's self portrait.
Haha, I'll do more of them weapons. It's fun. Did some more thumbs already
Fucking badassweapon-designs, mate!
EDIT: k, that was a bit lame and short. Actually I am in awe of this step since you're FINALLY tackling your comfort-zone! Not only by changing the subject (no flower-picking-girl, lol), but also by doing 3D-renders, too! (Blender is not that bad,it'smy program of choice for quite some months now!)
Everytime I post here it feels weirder and weirder since I told myself not to post into the thread of the big 'uns until I'm onpar with them. But don't mind me, keep pushing, you seem to have no limits!

waah, super awesome texture on the first one! O.o
it seems like you can already start building a portfolio o.O
Ha, now you're doing weapons. My longheld comfortzone... lol.
I wish i had invested more time into human anatomy and stuff.
Let's trade skills
Those 2d weapon designs look very good. The texture on that 3d model could use some work though.
If you need help, pm me or something. I textured quite a lot "back in the day"
You're quite the allrounder. Impressive!
when you design things, things that have an element of realism in them, make sure you think of function. the plates (hand protection) seem like they would cut the alien's (or the human's) hand whenever they tried to grip the weapon. just something to think about. function, function. nice sp's and other paintings; keep working hard.
Is there anything you can't do? I mean, honestly?
Baaaadass weapons. Badass. Since I've got no experience in designing weaponry or of Blender, it's hard to step in and crit anything. However, one piece of advise I'll always remember regarding production design (be it a chair or a gun), is to remember function. Is that partiular piece for show or for function? I realize alien guns may not be all about such, but still something to remember at least
Otherwise, brilliant work! I should try this sometimes, seems like much fun
Edit: Looks like purb beat me to that advise! But ah well, more than one mentioning it must make it important
Sweet guns, dood.
Purb hit the nail on the head--first and foremost, a gun has to work. It doesn't matter how cool your gun looks, if it don't work, YOU GONNA DIE!
You might check your local lobrary for some nonfiction books on the topic, or you might be able to pick up a "Field and Stream" magazine, if they have them in Germany. Figure out what makes a gun a gun.
And do more of these, because even if they don't work, everybody likes cool looking guns.
nice guns bro, lookig good, i like the alien gun, pretty awesome, keep working!
Hahaha, Johannes du kranker Freak XD!!
Jetzt protzt du auch noch mit tierisch geilen Waffendesigns rum. Alter...
Studium abgebrochen? Warum o.o? Was hast du eigentlich studiert? ^^
Weiter so, verdammt
~Faust~, thanks buddy! Haha and you're right, it was about time. And I really didn't expect it to be that much fun D: Except the 3D modeling. That's a fucking annoying task xD Blender is cool though, for being open source and all it's completely awesome. And stop worrying or even talking about popularity! Seriously D:
lilnebo, haha thank you!
Kurjuus, thanks! And yeah I have to build a portfolio, but for artschool aplication so gun design isn't exactly what I should be doing lol.
Zeitwolf, kept you waiting huh?
pandahund, hey thanks! Haha that texture is actually postwork. I don't seriously intend to become a 3D artist, so I didn't bother with UV mapping and all that stuff.
purb36, dude you're so right! Haha yes. Well as you might have noticed I got no idea of how guns work. So I'll probably have to do some research and such. Should be fun!
Asa, there's actually a lot of things I can't do O_O Like, juggling with eight cats at the same time. Six or seven is okay though. Thanks for the advice on form following function!
Sedig, haha thanks man, I guess I really gotta focus more on functionality if all people say it Books, yeah, there's also tons of gun-themed websites, so reasearch shouldn't be a problem.
SnobbyOo, yay thanks mate!
zulu, whooooo cheers!
Autumnal Dream, thanks and, umm, Computer Science it was, and I cancelled because it sucked, and because I'm too stupid for all that 1 and 0 stuff.
Did some swords!
And another one, practicing rendering here D:
This one I like.
And yesterday's selfportrait D:
Well, that's not bad, but I know you can do better!
Cool stuff.. like the swords!
great updates! i love the weapon designs, especially the swords! BTW, just how did you teach yourself 3d in a day?
Koof da Noob SKetchbook!!
Haha, i knew there was something wrong with it. Cool update. I like the rough pieces, though I'd like to see them taken a bit further
Sketcheth was right. Your work is pretty incredible.
Sooo...what DO you do to get your results haha.
Any advice on how to paint environments? I always have trouble with them.
EDIT : I just visited the pages in the front....your improvement over the last year is mind blowingly amazing. Now I really have to know your secrets haha

Radical weapon designs! That alien gun looks like it would cause some serious damage...looks painful as well too if somebody knocked you over the head with. How about vehicle concepts next hehehehe...
Always great and inspiring works algenpfleger. Just keep doing what your doing and kicking lot's of butt.
Damn , you are so good, all of your work is incredible.
I like everything you draw and some drawings even remind me of linda bergkvist's work. Am amazed. Do you work in the concept art industry ?
nice work dude, you made a very good progress, you should be proud of yourself, now i think is time for you to star doing some illustrations and concepts and start playing with your skills, and start learning from that, you are on your way, best of luck bro, cheers!
mmmm them swords look good enough to eat! Last post is great. I especially like the desaturation and brushwork in the last SP! You ARE doing 'it'. Congrats because your hard work is paying off! I'm barely beginning! Have you decided on attending Wellington Workshop yet?
