Fishspawn, thanks a bunch, and thanks again for those composition hints! I really didn't notice that, you're so right. And yeah man, I love storytelling, but I always feel that I lack the skill needed to tell my stories...
Reject-D, thanks man, and no I'm sorry, there's no point in wasting hours in rendering something as long as I don't have the foundations like anatomy and color and all that stuff, a bad sketch will always stay a bad sketch, no matter how detailed.
UnSharpened, thanks mate, and yeah, I suck least when it comes to light haha. But like i was saying, i don't feel like finishing anything right now. Basics are more important, far more important. Rendering and portfolio stuff comes later. And dude, thank you for the stars
Chalid, thank you
EtherRain, thanks buddy Damn, I hear your point about the rendering, but i feel like atmosphere and colors are so much more important right now. So I'll keep focusing on that a little longer.
Hive_minD, thanks a bunch for those nice words my friend, and you got a sharp eye, that arrow is indeed more spear-sized
Soja, alda! Danke Du rockst.
Today I was laaaaaaazy! That painting from yesterday took all my energy.
So here's a 1.5 hour knight without anatomy:
And of course, more photo studies.
15 minutes each:
killer studies man!
Everyone lacks the skill they want to tell their stories Also you mentioned that the knight is lacking anatomy: don't worry about anatomy - think about form. Anatomy is just form that you can describe after you get the basic form down - so if you're not worried about rendering you should focus on form, not anatomy. The knight's pose is boring because he has no carrying angle - he's standing too straight. I like the colors you used for his armor though. Where are you getting these photo refs from?
Stop saying you're lazy when making those posts, lol!
Digging your photo-studies and the painting from earlier ist REALLY a step up! Craig Mullins, ik hör Dir trapsen!
oh wow! lov'n your stuff!! those photo ref exercises are awesome! hope u dont mind if i potch your training ideas hehe. i was thinking though, if your work (when figurative) with no reference is perhaps lacking in a believability about them id agree with fishspawn, maybe do some posture studies. get down what makes someone look interesting in their posture. eh just a thought. anyways nice work man. looking forward to seeing some more
Oh mannn ohhh mann!!!
organisieren? Das wäre eigentlich ganz gut oder??
Those 10 minute environment studies are excellent, great progress!
You are a beast Algenpfleger!!!
Your progress is magnificent and really inspiring, love the loose but strong quality of your paintings, great attention to lighting and colors/ values.
Hey man you are doing such an amazing job.
Keeping up this pace, you will be in the exclusive sketchbook section in no time at all. What I would like to see more of from you is a real piece of finished, glazed, jucy art. Take your time. Throw in some of that awesome colorskill you got and really render out the details.
Other than that, you should draw more, and reference those drawings to anatomical facts, such as books. This is an excellent way to improve your anatomy skill over time.
WHY DO YOU NOT LIVE IN OSLO? I would have loved to jam with you some time.
Take care and keep rockin.
Kicek, thank you Sir!
Fishspawn, haha you got that right! But we need to keep on dreaming or what we want to tell will fade before we are able to... or something lol. You're right about the form, yeah, you're right, I need to understand that to the fullest, I want to become a master of lighting and atmosphere so that's important. The refs are from tellagalleria.com, awesome site.
~Faust~, but I am! Thanks a bunch, and yeah Craig Mullins is incredible. I wanna have his skill damn it Gotta practice more.
tokotewhero, thanks a bunch my friend, and potch all you want from me You're right about the postures, I need to study that stuff harder. Eeek long way to go for me.
Soja!
Quinn Simoes, thanks, here's more of them just for you!
Xaya, I'm no beast man, I'm just a kid who got no TV so he draws Thanks a ton man.
Mischeviouslittleelf, thank you Exclusive section, huh? If I'll ever be that good, I'll stay in the public section, just like MindCandyMan did... his book couldn't have brought me here if it'd have been in the exclusive section Thanks for those hints regarding anatomy and all that stuff. And yeah, some finished piece will come... some day. I need to walk before I can run. Yeah Oslo, actually I'd love to live in Scandinavia.. Germany's a bit boring. But i got a lot of lovely friends here...ah I don't know. I want to move to Toronto when I'm grown up... we'll see.
Update time? Some non-reffed morning doodles! Just playing with light and shadow here.
10 minute photo studies! Always fun, never boring. Refs like I said already from terragalleria.com.
And some hands... very, very rough, and I suck at doing stuff from life, so those aren't too good.

I'm still in love with your speedies, man!
Why does everybody says they suck when I only can dream to achieve your level someday =(
Looooooove your skechbook . Could you gove some more info aboot how you make those 10/15 min photostudies? Like just make a new layer on top of the photo, what brushes and stuff.
I really enjoy your 10min environments. You've improved so much mate. I hope to get half as good as you!
!! Sonst wie immer fett!!
Awesome SB and progress. I really love those 10 minute enviros.
I'd love to see more colored figure sketches. Those are also pretty nice.
And I'd also love to see some drawings you spend more than ten minutes . (like 3 or four hours or so)
Anyway, keep up the good work man. What you do is really inspiring.

~Faust~, eternal love huh? Thanks a bunch
Alkaliho, well that's because if they said "I'm awesome" everybody would hate them! And it's better too think you've got room for improvement. Thanks About the photo studies, I just make a nwe canvas of the same size and then... well, paint what I see Requires some training I guess, but its not that hard. I use big brushes and work zoomed out to not get caught up in detail, 10 minutes are short.
dsg, wow thanks a lot man!
Hive_minD, thanks buddy, but what's with the attitude? You gotta aim higher!
EtherRain, thanks man! And yeah that's exactly what I look like when I'm drawing Actually, the guys in the video are all me on my days off
Novbert, thank you very much and yeah I'll try to do more figurative work as I love Craig Mullins and want to do stuff like he does. Hmm long studies? I always get bored when doing those The important stuff happens in the first minutes...
Sady, glad to hear, thanks!
Holy shit, today was my 10-hours-of-lectures-day! I hate Tuesdays! So stupid. So I didn't get anything done.
Just a doodle before running to the bus:
Studies/sketches in between lectures:
Fineliner sketches on the bus, these are A4 sized, 20 minutes each :F
And some photo studies before going to bed... 10 minutes each. I came home at 7:30 pm, so that's all for today, a shame D=
the human poses are fantastic, did you use reference?
-Great updates again, just wondering. What texture is it your using on those 10min sketches. It looks to me like you use the same one?
guck mal da! Sketchmeet in Holland!
hey, I'm back again ;P I had some problems with my account these days but now everything is fine and I'm glad that I can post comments - well like it seems you are skilled enough to do easy these speed paintings with photo refs. anyway I think it would be nice to see some finished work from you and do more sketches please ,not only copies of anatomy books
*take atention on your proportions (fineliner sketch) his hand is too short and his head is little big
Regards and keep rocking!
Michael Wasik, thanks, and well the first page are vanderpoel studies, the rest is from head.
Hive_minD, thanks buddy, and it's rather a combination of brushes than a texture that I'm using, I haven't figure out how to use textures yet, so I just brush over in some different blending modes to make it look rough lol.
Soja, Holland, hmm? Is ja n Stück weg, aber mal sehn, cool wär das schon! Danke
Mepp, wow, thanks for the nice words man and good luck! Just keep going
atlantik, ah there you are! Great to have you back. Oi just a small part of mysketches are copies from the books D= All the hands are from life, and most of the figures and faces from head. But yeah, I guess you're right about the proportions and the finished stuff .-.
Too lazy to upload all the studies, but here's some doodles!
Really like your photo studies! I think im gonna try some myself ;-) Cool sketches too, keep it up!
