Trying to get an early start on my 'Fill a sketchbook' resolution for 2008. Never filled one up. Would be cool if I actually did it this year. We'll see. Another resolution is to be more active online, participating in critiques/contests/forums/etc. It's all good for inspiration/ideas/networking/motivation... etc.
I like 'etc.' ;j
Got a blog with tutorials at http://blog.jimiyo.com

oo i love everything here! Ur shading is amazing!
I have to take a step back for a sec...
*whew* OK... First off, Awesome renderings here, complimented by excellent, clean lines. The one that really strikes at me is the portrait of the woman (third one from the bottom there.) She seems so joyful and full of character, almost mischevious.
Just keep it up bub.
Excellent drawings, keep posting!
amazing pencil/shading skills!!
love this thread so far, so stick to your new years resolutions and keep them posts coming!
"Tears will drown in the wake of delight"
These are great! Your shading is amazing - I especially like the one second from last; the way you have stopped the drawing then continued it from a different place (with her legs + feet - couldn't think of a better way to describe it!) looks really good!
Wow great shading. I really love the 4th one in the first post you have so much going on in that one.
Good luck on your resolution BTW. I can't seem to keep a blank page in any of my SB's.
If you aren't your harshest critic you're doing it wrong

***** using a 3H and a 2B pencil has really helped to get the look i like. 3h is light, like a 40% opacity black, so i draw the outlines, etc then go in and darken with 2b, as well as using 3h for midtones...
im just getting acclimated with the tools.... i wonder if you guys have any tips with other softness, etc????
Hey what's up, you got some nice, clean stuff here, I'm glad that you uploaded it. The narrative feel you have to all these pieces I especially like. Up more of your stuff, I'll definately check back.
I really love your style~ hope to see more~
keep it up~
Welcome To My Art Garden
Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man's growth without destroying his roots.
i guess im achieving what i want. im getting a better handle on the tools/pencils as well as getting away from just looking at something and rendering it. although im still referencing images, im incorporating them in an overall image that seems to tell a story...
I like your rendering man. Looking pretty good!
Keep it up!
I like your shading, so smooth! Keep it coming, would like to see more!
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race, and I ain't gonna lose.
hey. well, i guess i failed on the sketchbook thing. never finished it, (although i still have 3+ months) i have about 70 pages left.i did however continue to draw, just on detachable sketch paper. these are mostly converted into tshirt designs.
Anyways, Im 1 of 5 designers in the running to win $10,000 over at designbyhumans.com tshirt contest.
If you can throw me a vote, I'd greatly appreciate it. I am also promoting by having a drawing for these original drawings. To learn more go here
