Wow, i can't believe nobody commented on this one yet.
Pretty solid linework you got there man. Really nice sketches!
Keep it up!
hey Carb thanks for the comment love ya muscle work in your sketch book man.
here more stuff i didn't end up submitting for the 100th cow lol and a lot of miscellaneous and concepts for some 3d stuff i was doing at the time.
As usual comments and critique are very welcome
Don't be afraid to give me something guys i'm looking to grow with this experience via some input of some sort even if its just small talk or an issue with the way i work and how i might improve etc.
plus it gives me a chance to connect with people and there work whom i might not know otherwise.
cheers to you all
Hi ab4185, welcome to CA!!
Your creature design is great, and the line drawing is brilliant. Actually I couldn't give much comment cause there are a lot things I have to learn, but one thing I notice in your colour work is that they're a sort of flat. It might just that you haven't gotten ideas of your background, I think that will make those lovely creature more realistic. It's a matter of depth?
thanks unsharpened. we all gotta learn stuff no one will ever be perfect so never feel like ya cant give comment feels like there are lot of people in the shadows on this site who don't feel they have the right to comment cause they look down on there own stuff.
best way to grow is through fellowship in the same goals.
keep it frosty man.
Someone suggested i post the images i had for the 2dartist mag tutorial i did on Jealous Bodyguard so here they are peoples.
just testing out my signiture
Thanks for the com grenappels.
here is an image i did for an old personal project of my littlest cuz Patrick.
another piece from the good old days
this was part of the same project as jealous bodyguard
im trying to find the rest fomr that project so expect more.
as usual let me know your thoughts.
hello I really love your character concepts. You've got a great eye for detail, and your line quality is really nice. My only complaint thus far is that when you color/render your images, you could probably push the value a little further. The light hitting your characters/creatures seems rather ambient, and if you punched some really dark darks in there, it might really make them pop into reality, you know?
I can't wait to see what else you post... beautiful stuff. You have high potential.
thanks Bohemian that is exactly the kind of advice im looking for please dont anyone hesitate to fill me in on any similar of different thoughts that would help me to better my work
latest work for the stylized dragon challenge everyone should check out the awesome stuff going on over there.
just some more sketch stuff ive been doing in my little spasms of actual life inspiration between boring work
please for the love of art itself someone give me some input LOL
I'm finding myself in a slump and want to know how i can improve on my style.
help me grow.
Have you ever designed fantasy plants?
hmm...fantasy plants may just be my next stop i think.
Im wishing i looked back at my thread weeks ago when i was in a real slump but i think ill still do a little sketching while i have some time.
Is that dinobirds i see...mmmm.
Nitpick mode initiated- the pose of the creature in 'jealous bodyguard' looks a little..awkward. The head of the creature doesnt really flow back into the neck like it should, which leaves the pose a little unnatural, a bit like the head was severed then plonked back on. The image would also make a great deal more sense if the creature and the woman were looking at the same thing, as this would hint at the guarding/jealousness of the creature. withing knowing the title of the image, i didnt pick up at all that the creature was jealous, or even a bodyguard, more a pissed off pet.
I'm above inscessantly nitpicking the anatomy of the creatures feet since it is fictional, but i do think they would have looked better if they were more like the actual feet of a lion/bear/whatever. At the moment they resemble those comical claw slippers.
hey guys a little update since its been so long.
thought id try a zbrush sculpt again.
let me know what you think despite the fact that the model is still unfinished. ill try to post an update of the fianl some time soon.
heres my final model but before anyone says anything i do realise how badly lit the render is lol.
im away from the office for a while though so ill try and render it up nice and neatly.
until then i wanted to atleast post something.
Also its been ages since Ive been able to get back to some painting so ill post this old one that i promised some people i would post ages ago anyway ha.
Merry Christmas from the land of Oz and to all a safe and happy new year
