I like the deer thingy. Maybe you could develop it a bit more.
Congrats on even trying on the 24 hour comics day. For some reason, our school doesn't really pump it up so I end up never doing it. I probably would crash a few hours in and curl up in a corner.
Sketches are looking good! You seem to have a good feel for storytelling, also, in your comics.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COMMISSION ME: Please read this: http://www.imaginetheending.net/?page_id=151.
Check out my website: http://www.ImagineTheEnding.net/
And my sketch book:
A post that isn't after midnight? Someone should check on me to see if I'm okay!!!
Black Spot - it was half an idea for Sketchoholic's "Forest Creature" compy. It was pretty throw-away, but stay tuned for more weird wildlife, although it'll be mostly bear-related.
ImagineTheEnding I don't want to over-sell it, or undercut all the lovely comments I've received from other people, but telling me I have a good grip on storytelling is the nicest thing anyone could ever say to me ever. Thanks so much.
My pub drawing group - The Galway Pub Scrawl - was featured in ImagineFX!!!!!!!! Partially cos we're better than you ( ) but mostly because group member Linda knows how to ask nicely & Beren from ImagineFX is very generous with space in the magazine. All I did was photograph.
And I'm getting on top of this run of the POW! Panels of the Week early, to avoid disappointment again -
this is a thumbnail of page 1. I know what I'm doing!!! Hopefully have this finished early next week. When is the deadline? I better check...
And some thumbs for another comic project that has been in my head for.... I want to say more than 12 years....
And some character designs for another project. Don't like how these turned out, although it's starting to take shape on the left -
Love & hugs,
Love & hugs? What the hell am I, some kind of hippy? I must have been in a hell of a different headspace yesterday.
Anyways, page 1 for the POW complete -
I should have page 2 done tomorrow and that makes a complete entry for a CA contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okay, let's not get excited yet. Hold on and see if I do the damned thing first.
Okay, so it wasn't quite the tomorrow I was referring to, but it's done & it's in time. YEAH! Go over to the POW subforum and encourage the guys! There's some cool entries brewing over there.
Also, I did one of these things. Is the time for this meme already come and gone? I had fun doing it regardless. I should have cleaned up the white boxes in the bg.
Go on do it. Finish it and I'll vote - not saying I'll vote for you though, but at least I'll be there. With friends like me, do you need enemies?
I like that picture of the bear! Keep doing what you're doing chap!
What an overwhelming lesson to all artists! Be not afraid of absurdity; do not shrink from the fantastic. Within a dilemma, choose the most unheard-of, the most dangerous, solution. Be brave, be brave! - Isak Dinesen
The last two are pretty good. I really like the stance of the dog.
gutss - Thanks! (Everyone go check out gutss' SB, it's really good)
Black Spot - It was hell getting him to pose though.
A really quick post again.... Just home from work at midnight. Gah. Argh. Fargle.
POW! Right in the kisser.
Used to have a teacher we called Thunder Thighs. The first sketch reminded me of her, but your sketch is nowhere near the nightmare of the real thing. Work does suck it out of you, soon the Christmas madness will be over and during the lull before the January Sales start, you can relax and draw a bit more between mouthfuls.
Black Spot: lol. I think I was starting construction lines and started mixing up the higher top option with the lower bottom option. Heheheh. We also had a Thunder Thighs. Must be a persistent idea, either in the heads of students or a condition affecting teachers.
Loads of fun was had at the Galway Pub Scrawl tonight (as usual) Go to the blog there to see what the others got up to.
Some scratchin's from me:
nighty night, CAsters!
Black Spot Thanks - they're an idea/ideas for a painting I might lash into one of the days.
Christmas/New Years is my day job's busy time. Now, some art!
Literally finished one SB on Dec 31st and opened a new one on Jan 01st. Fun!
A Friend of mine was talking about getting a Red Riding Hood tattoo, so I thought of this:
Which is in the process of becoming this:
And an art piece for a friend of mine's wedding. This is going to be the main design on the invite, I think. I could explain the concept, but it's (as usual) 1:50 AM when donalfall uploads, so it's time for bed.
Meoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooow and some more.
First painting I've done in forever. The photo isn't great, but it's not the best picture either. It's for our Artistic Challenge Group on Facebook.
Fun as ever. I like the painting, good action even if the bullet is travelling faster than light.
Black Spot - it's a special quantum bullet. It expands the range of Planck's Constant. I'm going to do far more painting from now on into the near future.
More from the book, I've been getting the Artistic Fire recently.
Thanks a lot for visiting my humble sketchbook mate. i really appreciate it.
What can i say now. i looked through your sb from page 1 to the page 6. (ill be going through the rest in few hours time). Super cool sketching style mate. Especially your hatching looks awesome to me and youre defining the forms nicely. # 153: :Last piece looks amazing! i simply love it. theres so much i can learn about hatching from your work.
So i hope you wont expect much critiques from me.i dont have enough knowledge for that im afraid. im just a beginner who started self-learning arts, two months back. but ill surely point out if i see any odd stuff in the future.
I started using this book some time back. hope itll be useful to you as well.
Pencil Drawing Techniques by David Lewis.
Another good book i bought lately,
Drawing the Female figure by Francis Marshall
Ill drop by to see more work of yours mate. Best of luck!
Time for your slant on still lives. Bet they're be just as lively.
Aw, you guys.....
devastacio your SB was a real treat too mate, I really liked your work. Hey, we're all just learning here, it's all good. Those are two good books you mentioned, I don't own them but I've seen them. There's a lot to learn in there.
Black Spot if a still life is lively? ... hahahaha, no. I do one or two a week, but I don't stick them up because my scanner is so wonky. Just like the half-scan below! Tell you what, if I do one tomorrow, I'll photo it and stick it up.
I need at least two things in this life, a daylight lamp and a light-desk. I gotta look into these things.
Robots should look like spiders. Or at least eggs on legs.
Partial scan of my final Red Riding Hood & Wolf. Can't get my scanner to look sideways.
And a flier for my pub group. I'm determined this thing is going to go Nova this year, really want to get a good crowd of good people doing good things. It's been great for the past year, but I'm looking to do more of more!
I thought that you disappeared for good. You
are making some huge pauses. I remember the times
when we were posting in each others sketchbook.
I looked up the last time I have posted in your book, and
guess what date it was? 12th January 2010.
Wow, exactly 1 year passed since then.
But I am very glad that you are back, and I hope
that we will work together again, just as in the good ol' times.
Good to see an old mate back.
The robot design looks cool. maybe you could have added more details (some trinkets and gadgets). Red Riding hood sketch is lovely. really like the contrast between the dark and light. her face is little skewed but hey its not bothering me much.
ill drop by later to check out for more updates. keep up the good work mate.
Hello hello! Some very interesting sketches and concepts, I think there a few anatomy errors popping up in your imaginitive works though. I get the same problem myself, but I'm sure studies'll cure a bit of that.
Anyways, keep up the good work!
LtPlissken - No dude, not gone, just didn't have enough time for investigating other people's work. 2010 was crazy busy for the day job, but I'm going to be crazy Art busy for 2011. I can't believe it was a full year, but I'll make it up to you man!
devastacio - Cheers. I have a crazy realised version of the eggs on legs robot in my head, but I haven't gone working big enough to get all the doodads and piping and mess in there that I want to see. Someday soon I'll crack out a big drawing of it. - and I agree, her face is totally lopsided. That's why I'ld kill for a lightbox. I could knock out a correct version so quickly it wouldn't be funny. Although it would be fun.
Naidy - I'll see your anatomy errors and raise you twenty more. Yeah, you'ld think after all these years you wouldn't so much, but you can still see a lot of messy people in my sketches. Hey, it's not really an excuse, but it's just the SB. Thanks!
ranunkel - Thanks! Yeah, it could do with more industrial components. I might return to it sometime, but I'll definitely do something very similar again. I like eggs on legs.

Hello there mate,
LOL i could say the same thing about a 'Wacom intuos4' trying to paint using a mouse is such a err *Wonderful experience*That's why I'ld kill for a lightbox
about the updates; well nothing much for me to add here im afraid. But seeing 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' does me good!. Last sketch is my favorite in this update. its a 'spot on' job to me.
Keep up the good work mate. if you get the time, update frequently. ill see you later mate.
(edit) Oh look! Post 300! Kewl. (/edit)
Oh man I was typing for ages and then killed Chrome... somehow... I'll redo, but it might be briefer...
devastacio I know the feeling! Well, I have the Wacom, just nothing to attach it to. I haven't been able to replace my desktop for the last few years. The current plan is build a lightbox with the help of a friend, do some comics, buy the desktop, attach the Wacom, do more comics. Let's see how that pans out as the year goes on.
LtPlissken Hopefully so anyway buddy! I was away last weekend and the weekend coming, but other than this lull, I should be around constantly.
So, speaking of comics, these top 2 images are from a related project.
This is more just randomness, although there is some superhero stuff on route...
Because of the load of travelling I have had on my plate this month, I'm not going to get the POW! Cover Project done in time, but here's a sample of more - or - less how I'ld do the Frankenstein cover. It's nearly done, but the other 4 are still just sketches, so I'll sadly not make it.
And this is a post at 2:24 AM! Very much on form for my usual style. Goodnight CA'er's.
