cool work, karyl!
I really like the the Great Desert Lizard especially its face .
And the shape of the arctic racer is awesome. I like that you worked with skids and not wheels!
maybe you could break the red surface here and there a bit. right now this "one color" feels overwhelming and uniform to me and makes it look slightly like a toy. maybe some openings where you can see some of the tech inside, some solar cells on top or sails on the sides.
Hoo boy I thought I should drop by and update so you know I'm not dead. Been working on something for CHoW but I don't want to upload it until it's done.
In the meantime I have been playing with 3D modelling some more, in Blender this time. Trying to wrap my head around UV Mapping. I got the bottom to work without too much fuss, but trying to figure out how to best unwrap the top part is brain exercise
So are you going to introduce me to your handsome friend in post 426?
Thanks Razorb, glad you like it
Blackspot, I feel like you may already have known this person
I was reading Oblio's sketchbook thread with his account of CA back in the early days, and I got so effing inspired I had to do this at lunch. Two posts in one day FTW!

really nice sb! those cars are really well done
i think on some of your figure drawings, the forehead seems to cut off a little quickly, leading to a shortish/flat top of head (on page 14, the ones on previous pages dont seem to have this)
your selfportraits are really good
the wolf on page 11, wah, awesome, is this effect done with some custom brushes or what?
Nice chow! keep up the good work m8!
Thanks for the kind words guys!
aks9: Thanks for the crit, I will keep an eye out for that The wolf was done with some custom brushes for PS, yes, but I didn't make them myself... I'm trying hard to remember, I *think* it's Barontieri's brush set (you can find it on google)
Got it in my head tonight to try a little exercise where I "reboot" one of my characters from my final project back in school in 07. I was pleased to see, it definitely seems like I've made some progress in those three years! Still not great though, the new design is a little boring and needs some spicing up. Might go back into it.
Few new things... A horrendous landscape from photo ref, I'm posting the ref so you can see how I didn't even get close, but hey I'm working and learning right? Also I don't remember where I got the ref but I did NOT take that photo.
After that, my thumbs for this weeks EOW...
nice improvement and the last piece is coming along really good
