Nice work so far .
I really think you should work alot more on your rendering technique, right now it is really dull to look at, try and break it up with some texture and focus on your values.
Try to use lower key values as well, you would be suprised at how dark the world actually is.
Thank you for your post @ Hue-Value-Chroma
#140 study rocks. I got to do one of them also.
[Something with hard edges. Yes, yes. Something is clicking. It beats all the soft edges I've been trying to figure out. Blahhh. ]
Keep up with the studies mate.

All these head studies are great - really well realised sense of form and character. All the anatomy line studies are good too - and I like the hair studies you did back in march.
Your drawing is really strong, but perhaps you need to work on colour a bit more - the recent profile in colour is good, but some of your previous coloured images seem to only have the local colour of the object or the colour is overly simplified.
Thanks for the swatches too - very helpful!
Whoa....I love those head studies. Especially the last one.
Keeep it upp

You have a really nice grip on expressing shape and form with light and shadow, but I think it will really benifit your art if you use a range of values that delves all the way into blacks. Right now it seems the darkest you'll use is only 70% of the way there.
I love the bride though.
yes one-handed is right
another thing that would be interesting to see is line-art and pencil-sketches with different kind of hatching
nice head studies!
Cool stuff! thx for sharing )
Thank you all for nice words.
Here's the brush I used. It's nothing special just photoshop's stipple brush with some tweaks here and there. It's not very good at small sizes like 10 pix or less, so you have to use something else for smaller stuff (hard round will do).
I attached it below. If you download it change the file's extension to zip and unpack it (had to change to avi so I could attach it). Inside the zip is a photoshop tool preset file.
your values are pretty darn good, but for some reason your colours lack depth and form. You could try overlaying some colours over a value drawing, and then continue with colours from there on. Or what I really suggest is that you work on some colour studies. Not only portraits, but objects and environments to.
New challenges to conquer!
Keep at it mate
Very nice work here!! Regarding the head studies I was about to post a crit about maybe increasing contrast, working on edges etc (and hopefully make sense), that was until ppst #166, from then on I think you have sorted out the issues yourself as these recent ones are looking really great!! A couple more of these and you should really start to get the hang of it!!
Keep up the great work!!
