My new project!
Maybe add just a tad more space on top, so her sword doesn't get cut off?
Are you gonna add the shield she got from Perseus, with Medusa's head on top, too? I see some lightning going on there, but that's not hers.. that's Zeus. Also, the sun/moon in there, is there a link too Artemis/Apollo? If you're going symbolic (the war goddess), watch what you're putting there. Perhaps you could do something with a building or mountains in the bg?
Perspective on the sword might be a li'l off, maybe it's just the perspective, not sure. Also, perhaps some more heads behind the guys, showing off an army.
Very cool idea, great pose of Athena, cool guys on front. Keep it up.
I wasn't giving alot of thought about the symbolism, but I might now, thanks!
I added the shield leaning up aginst her. As for the lightining, I was going to use it to practice my values, lol
And I thought a night seen would look awsome and give me some fun to play with. I will keep the night seen, and I think the lightining will work, she dose comr from Zues's forhead. Acceptible?
Oooooooooooh, nice. I think that her arm holding the sword is a little too long though. I would actually move her arm around to the front of her more, and in more of a pointing motion toward the viewer. This would also foreshorten that arm a bit, however, I think the dynamic payoff would be worth it. Good work on it so far!

Honest, I don't try to be an asshole, it just happens!
Question time for me.
Now I am working on my values here, so I can imporve.
From what I understand, then I do the coloring, the backround on this picture should be the lightest area, and the middle or Athens, should be middles tones accept for the highlights, and the soldiers in front will be the darkest ones, except for a little forgorund light comming form a fire or something? Dose this sound right?
I am still working on the soldiers on the front line, and I will adress them tomorrow. But any comments, please let me know.
I really like this pic, I'm absolutely obsessed with greek mythology (and I'm actually writing a paper about it right now)
The only thing that I can comment on is the size of Athena.. according to me, she's a little too big, the men in the front line are much smaller than her, giving the impression that she is infront of them, instead of the opposite, and I think that your intention is that the men is infront of her? keep it up!
I am working on the soldiers right now, becasue she is suppost to be huge in this pic I am doing, and I am trying to make it look right.
I am reworking the soldiers then I will ad them in.
soldier design reworked.
aaah.. ok, so she's just generally supposed to be big, since she's a godess?
Wtf if with triceps on arm with sword? Redo all upperarm i think.
Very good job on the new soldiers, they have a lot more movement and intensity now.
for some reason, I have the feeling that the proportions of her upper body and legs are way off. Her legs are ultra massive and she has a really short upper body. It could be just your style (the soldiers are awesome!), but that was what I noticed first when seeing this wip. Anyway, keep up the good work!
Her sword looks more medieval than classical. Ancient Greek swods were shorter, and slightly wider towards the tip. http://www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/images/500734.jpg Actually, though, Athena was more usually shown armed with a spear.
Her nearest arm also looks hugely long because it'ts not foreshortened, although I suspect it's intended to be thrust forward. The head and face also look somewhat long.

I did use a real world woman for the refrence for the pic, which is why she has nice thick legs like a woman who fights or dose some kind of athletics.
So to me she looks like a normal woman.
Now the head dose seem a little long, but I suspet it is becasue of the helm she is wearing. I will clean that up a bit more and it will make more sence.
Also adressing her arm. I actuly shortened it a bit so it dose look normal becasue in the refrence her arm came out a bit longer. And to me it looks good for the angel and legenth. If you look at her you can see your looking up towards her, if you were to grab a model and put it in the same pose, the arm and torso would come out looking about the same at the drawing.
I did take alot of time to get the proportions right.
The soldiers I got an idea from them while looking through rugby photos, they are sticky well build for battle and run alot. Rugby soldiers make great soldiers for refrence.
Finishing this tonight, and if you have any crits, please post and I will try to make changes as I go. I know I need to change the sword a bit, and I will try.

I think the lightning is really a bit too much, but that might just be me..
the image kind of seems boring.
it really just.. idk
it's good your detail is good
everything is right..
it just needs work
I have to agree with Twitch. It's a very nice picture, but somehow it looks boring, I don't know if it might be because of Athena, she somehow seems to just be standing there, pointing her sword...
