This is my sketchbook, not much else to say. Any critique is always appreciated, and I will frequently state it so. I will update as frequently as possible, it will however be infrequent.
note that the original items of this post have been removed for the purpose of updating the thumbnail, the original images from this post will be re-added in a later post, for those of you who havent seen them yet! Another thing to note is that the image seen in this post will sometimes reflect that of newer posts (the image of saruman was starting to become a bit off-putting) and now that you know I'm not just double posting... enjoy!

At long last: an update!
Two finished and one work in progress.
"If Thompson took over": is done with pentel marker on 8x11 layout paper
The other two are done in photoshop!
metal requires high contrast, usually going from pure white to almost black (unless its dirty metal)
shiny metal is mostly distorted reflections. the dark areas are the ground and upright objects and lighter areas the sky. on the first page of my sketch book there are some examples of chrome i did
and remember too much blending reduces contrast.
Thank you rattsang for the tips on the metal! they're helping out a LOT!
In other news, I've just gotten my friend and I's comic website up and running!
I'd appreciate any critique on not only the comic, but on the site as well.
I designed the logo, and the layout.
I would like to point out however, that the first episode of the comic was drawn somewhere in august of 2007, so it's not exactly on par with everything I've posted thus far. but I assure you that the art improves along the way!
The first episode is all I have up right now but It will be updated every Wednesday!

-I finally got my scanner working again, so I've been able to upload some of my sketches!
I have quite a few here too!
As usual, any comments/critiques/advice/ideas/etc. is always greatly appreciated.
I could especially use some advice and critiques on the proportions of the legs and feet of some of the quadrupeds. (I'm usually going for a dog type structure for the legs, and sometimes a bird like structure for some of the feet!)
most of these only show two legs because:
A: it's a side view and the other legs are directly behind the visible ones
B: I was just too effing lazy to do it at the time.
I've been working on a new bit of coloring here, (yet another four-legged beastie)
I'm hoping to better grasp the mechanics of coloring here. and I'll probably put this one to some actual use in a different scene. but for now it's just side view concept.
any and all advice is greatly appreciated (as-per usual)
I could use some critique.
got another update.
just finished the skin and plugs and I just have to finish the shoulder plates and some of the other little details.
critiques please? I want to make this thing look as good as possible.
any and all advice is greatly appreciated

yet another update.
I just completed a final for one of my classes, it is supposed to call videogames murder simulators and all that Jack Thompson jazz that nobody really listens to. but there's a hidden message!
There are a few artifacts that I left in just to give it a gritty feel.
It should be stated at this point that I do not believe that video games are a bad thing
I also have an update of the beastie that I've been working on, I finished the shoulder plates and one of the feet. it's coming along slowly but surely.
Damn that's an awesome beast you got there, the only thing that bothers me a bit is his feet, there's something unnatural going there with his foot pads.
Why don't you try different angles with your beasts or different poses and positions? A little variety wouldn't hurt. Hehehe
Cheers! Enjoyed your stuff :3

and I plan to put this one into different positions, but I'll probably do a front view first so I have a better idea of how to render it in 3D space. (design Drawing classes have made too big of an impression)
as for now, here's an update on that very beastie. as well as a little sketch I've been working on.
You have some anatomy issues you need to work out, and your sketches bother me for some reason (call me paranoid but I have issues), but you have some kickass coloring going.
I took the liberty of redlining the picture your coloring because it's being colored so nicely I couldn't help but try and make it a little better than it already is. I tried to add a little more pizazz to the pose since the pose you have is a little on the blah side..no offense though ^^;
Hope it helps!
No offense taken. I thank you for your red line, this will be a big help in overcoming the issue I have with anatomy. The only real reason it's so stiff is because it's mainly a concept drawing that I just had to color. I do however plan to draw him in some more loose positions (with better anatomy of course)
Right now however, I'm mostly showing off the design of the creature's armor and the coloring, (that and I'm using it for a final,)
Heyo it's update time again.
I want to thank you again Killasandra for your red line and advice they're helping out greatly. However, I've taken a break from my previous character and I'm working on this little number just for fun. afterwards I do plan to go back to the previous character and give him some more love.
Hey brewmaster, really love your creature designs! I can't really think of any critics, maybe just some advice: try to draw some creatures from different angles, like 3/4 turn or something. I'm trying this too, and it really helps me to learn perspective on living creatures!
Keep it up m8!

No problem, Glad to be of help! =D
I agree with Surion, some 3/4 views would be nice (all I can do is 3/4 I'm terrible at sideviews)
another update, my first in a while.
this one I was just drawing for fun today. It's inspired very heavily from Dog (Half Life 2) and Crying Wolf (MGS4). As per usual; any and all critiques are welcomed and appreciated!
Another update; School started and I'm coming up with tons of new ideas. I was pleasently surprised with how fun a typography class could be. and I came Up with this design that I took entirely too far.
I also have a small bit of illustration that I did for fun over the summer
this is the only time I will EVER apologize for the quality of something. the reason for this is because the image will show up blurry on certain monitors, and by certain montiors I mean the monitors for the older desktop macs, also I was forced to take a screenshot because the image itself is over 400mb.
it should show up fairly clearly otherwise, and as usual, any and all critique is greatly appreciated.
Update time again
having some fun, this character is one I used for a DnD style gaming session that my roommates and I regularly participate in, the face turned out to be extremely creepy so I added some text to make it funnier.
I finally found your SB! ok now down to buisness.... your digital painting is coming a long way but I think you should slow it down a little and go back to pencil and paper and do lots of drawing with that. buy a sketchbook and draw a ton. u don't have to be as crazy as Faust (srry man but u are crazy ) but an hour or two a day should really really jumpstart your art. k keep posting regularly!
New Updates but first some things to address
Rockhart: I thank you for the advice, I have been drawing in a sketchbook, It keeps me sane during family reunions. But alas with a broken scanner; I have not the means to upload the pictures. However, I still take your advice to heart and I've been drawing in it a lot more.
now on to the updates. This is some more digital work I've been doing in photoshop, just a little bit of boredom during a lecture, and voila.
however, the original image is too big to be uploaded, (just 20kb over the limit)
so this one is resized for your viewing pleasure
just a couple of updates today. One is quite clearly a mermaid, I have yet to add the finer anatomy points such as the dorsal fin and everything that would make a mermaid feasible. and the next is me at a computer with the very glint of evil in my eyes.
Just one update today, this one is a character of mine named Isabella, she's a healer. this was done in Alias Sketchbook Pro.
as always, any and all critique is greatly appreciated!
Another update for you today. yesterday I tried making one of those old style horror movie covers, you know the nes that don't quite look like what they're supposed to represent, painted on blood and stuff. At any rate, this is the fruit of my efforts!
Done in alias sketchbook pro.
