So this is my first post for a sketchbook... >_> How nerve wrecking.
Any constructive feedback is welcomed- and wanted!
A little about me... I'm a Korean/American female, 18 years and have been drawing since about 1 years old. It's never been a question for me really about being an artist, but a question of what kind of artist- and recently I've decided that concept/illustration would be my goal for life.
I love old school fantasy art, macabre, magic, character design, and creature design. Anything goes, trying new things just means another challenge.
Something I'm looking for:
I've posted at the mentor/mentee area that I'm in search of a mentor. *hint* So if there are any mentors out there, here's an advertisement to pitch at you!
I am in search of someone out there who could give me some consistent guidance as a friend or a mentor to better hone my art. I practice about 8 hours every day or so. However, since I'm self taught- I lack any real direction.
If anyone can push me in the right way in terms of...
-Photoshop Painting Techniques
-General Basics, etc.
...would be an invaluable resource to my learning. I've been stuck in a rut lately this past year, and if someone would be willing to mentor to answer questions and point out things specifically it could get me out of it probably.
Some paintings on Ps...
Some traditional mediums...

Just a little something from reference for practice with painting on Photoshop.

Hey man, nice start to a SB. Just wanted to point out that your heads are pretty big for the body. You should try and draw them a bit smaller.... or the body bigger of course.
Keep drawing and keep posting!
"Art is the proper task of life. "
Argh, it's been forever since I've drawn something. I had a major operation in my upper respiratory system with my nose and throat, then the stitches ripped and had to sit in the hospital for another extra week.
Here's some stuff I've done today after recovering.
Life: Yes, I often hear that my heads are big. I should probably study more on anatomy... if I can find the right books and excersizes. >_>
Mate: Yes, you are right. I've never noticed I've left alot of my doodles and sketches half completed until now, thanks for making a note of that, it's helped alot.
Question: Any particular modes of excersize one can do to improve freehand drawing other than the obvious "just go fo it"? I'm pretty good doing things from reference, yet I think it's about time I take steps to branch off my crutches and stand on my own two feet.
Thanks to all for the feedback.
Your going good, but I see you don't know what anatomy books to get.
Try here for all free loomis anatomy books.
Also google Hogarth, and G.B.Bridgman for great anatomy resources.
Keep it up
Edit: I hope you recover well from your operation also
