Hey guys and girls, I think I've been a member here for 2 years of so, but I've been busy in the world of 3d, but it's time to get better at the 2D.
Here's a whole bunch of old stuff, dating back to 4 years at the oldest (sorry, it's a bit of a dump). I wasn't painting consistently so I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't really improved much during that time. Something to amend - with your help
PS: I realise that my attachment layout is awful, is there a way to change this?
Comments always well received
you already know what i think
hadnt seen the last one before, looks pretty nice too me, though im not a big
enviro guy. still, i like what i see. just wanna see more!
perhaps next time i can give you a more helpful comment...i hope
MeTaL-Mike: thanks dude. I didn't realise I had a style
Gilles: cheers, I enjoy painting 'em, but they always seem to have snow - and ruins for that matter. hmmmm
Don-key: Thanks buddy, I've got some NZ themed landscapes I've got to put down at some stage. Good to see ya around.
JPW: Thanks, I seem to be too well balanced to create another movie poster at the mo' - will have to change that If you've got an idea for one, submit it at my blog and I might paint it up: Rant For Food
Renier van der West: Thanks man
Leo Snow: Chur, thanks. I've updated it on advice from a friend. More movement to counteract the 'uprightness' of the ruins and trees.
Hi Tim, nice sb you got so far! really liked your envo. work(especially rhino in arctic nazi wasteland), and the amount of variety in your first post. I liked the batman idea, my only suggestion for that mudbox/zbrush is that the head area is being detailed as if the mask was vacuum seal tight around the head, tone it down a little if you can. Also, rendering the nose on the mask area as if it were an actual nose looks strange, stick to the concept idea you had where its more like a mask. Hope this helps, its a cool idea Keep it up, and welcome to CA.
far out bro its getting pretty gruesome! is there any chance of seeing it a bit bigger? might make it easier to crit. i think the pose is looking stronger with the changes you made though. im not sure about his right hand? its a closed fist which is aggressive but the pose doesnt reflect that...maybe..i dunno.
keep at it man, wanna see more enviros too!!
Been cranking some more bust studies. Starting to feel like I'm coming to grips with shading, was looking at some of Freaky Naughty's work here on CA and it reminded me to shade on/with the planes of the face more. It's a two for the price of one deal!
I think you can see a progression with that strategy in mind if you read the images western style - they are laid out in order of creation, so that's a good sign. Any more ideas on things I could try on my next run would -as always - be appreciated
