Thanks for the encouragement; I appreciate it. I'm studying painting at Boston University. Which results in a tug of war, because I have to do traditional painting for school--don't get me wrong I really enjoy it--but I also want to do digital because I plan to be a concept artist. :/ Not enough time and not enough energy right now to commit entirely to both.
Here's something I've been working on for the past two months...way too long, although I learned a lot. I want to get it done asap.
Here's a previous WIP:
I'm gonna coat the plants with green and yellow towards the end.
One of my classmates works at a cafe, so she arranged for me to show some of my stuff there--actually my stuff has been there for two months already without my name being anywhere. >> So I made these cards that people can pick up.
I used the tape that I've been using as an analog lasso tool (lawl) to make the borders:
I also made changes to Guy Fawkes. I think I can make it better, but for now I just changed the whites to a tan color. >>

You have some very interesting work here.
art is never finished, only abandoned~Leonardo da Vinci
It's dry acrylic! The painitng is really big--each panel is 3x5 ft so total width is 12 ft.
Some updates on the orc and elf. I need to change my habits: solidify general shapes instead of detailing part by part. I'm going to do more and smaller trad. paintings too. I've been painting white over disliked--but not exactly terrible--paintings. Rather, I will just save them, and then do new ones. That way I will have more stuff. I want to be more loose with my marks/decisions too.
Still figuring the colors out.
I think his legs are kinda long. --block his weapon in before doing anything else--
Final. Paper is nice on a small scale...but it just ripples too much on a larger scale. So next big painting will be on canvas.

Some small subway acrylic paintings, around 8-9 inches on each side. I don't like the yellow that much...doesn't seem very underwatery. So i guess i will do more lol.
>>>Btw started a TUMBLR beetches. Sketcherdoodles lawl. Hopefully i can display images from tumblr. That would be so EZ.
Modeled in google SKETCHUP YO. I haven't investigated the bottom of the subway, so haven't done that yet.
Around the same size as the ones above, 8-9 inches on the side. I like this color palette--blue + black--more. Underwater + outerspace.
Clouds. Gonna do more, bc it looks too vague.
A lot of unsticky tape + board = TAPE PAINTING.
I haven't had much time to work on the orc/elf...but I'm getting there slowly. I gotta render less w digital stuff. Just leave it simple and clear.
Rubbing alcohol + acrylic + water =
Did this in 10 sec. Wow i'm so good.
Some more cloud studies. I did these after the cloud study above, but i like the one above the most. FUNNY right???
Better. I don't even want to use yellow for the subway. I did another study with teal, which i like. I didn't scan it though.
These are around the previous post's time, but i just scanned them.
Don't really like these:
GAH three more weeks until graduation, and one more week until the thesis show. I won't finish the painting these studies are for in time for the show...but that's ok.
A PS collage. I actually put up 3x5 canvases in this arrangement, and started painting on them. And then I started really disliking the surface. I can't stand canvas surface. So I spent 5 hours one night cutting paper squares and pasting them perfectly bubble-less onto the canvas, thinking FYEAH i'm so smart: now i can paint on super smooth paper but without tearing/wrinkling issues; who cares if there r ridges between the squares. The following day I tried it, and it just...sucked. The paper absorbed the canvas texture, so it was pretty much the same. (side note: I gessoed the canvas at least FIVE times, and sanded it pretty smooth; my teacher tells me I have to gesso and sand even more if i want it like paper...LABOR UGH)
Anyways, I have some more small studies to scan in. But after realizing I am really compulsive (my teacher's words), I realized that the small studies are preventing me from a more intuitive approach. Rather than figuring everything out small, I can figure some stuff out big, resulting in a more layered and deep surface because of changes etc. My teacher persuaded me to just try it out on the paper-pasted-on-canvas thing. So I mocked something new, for just one 3x5. For the past two semesters, I've been doing b/w => color. Basically determining the drawing/value before I add color. Digitally, I've always gone back and forth between those two, so I'm gonna try that out for this. Basically I had a revelation. I am feeling pretty confidant about this. (this is just composition, the colors will be like the one above)
Around 1.5x3ft, pre-revelation.
Anyways, words of the day: MESSY and INTUITIVE. Brought to you by the number 1203213414123.
wow... very cool sb. I love your traditional work. It's so emotive. The charcoal? work has such great contrasts and shapes and mood! I can't wait to see how the train project ends up, too.
I have to say, by comparison, your digital works (notably the character designs) seem a little.. underwhelming. They're definitely good, but they don't excite me. I could look at your paintings and experiments all day, though.
Just some feedback, in case you're looking to get into character design. I can't really name exactly why...you've still good interesting textures and gestures. I think it's something to do with the shapes and colors.
I dunno, I don't really know anything about character design and you really shouldn't weigh my opinion too heavily. But if concept work is your desired field, I'd consider doing character designs more often for practice.
Thanks for the your input, i really appreciate it. The b/w/g stuff is acrylic. I agree with you--gotta work more on my charac designs. I am working to mesh my digi and traditional content.
I just graduated yesterday. Haven't really painted in 2 weeks after my senior show, which was a fucking stressful event. I got in an argument with my teacher, which left me in a really bad mood. So i've been playing a lot of LoL to distract myself...
This summer I will work hard tho. I might work on the subway thing, though i tend not to touch real paint outside of school...Anyway here's some better pics of my big painting, and a random doodle.
Been a while since I posted here, good to see you are progressing quite nicely.
