randal- the anatomy will only get better with time. i hope... trying to push the imagination because i think that is the most important thing with concept art. being creative and solving problems. thanks a lot man
sketch- im really liking the brushes i used in that post. starting to get the style and painterly look to my work that i want.
here is a woman i painted up today. ive just switched to second shift at my joe job and i feel a lot better
man isnt supposed to be awake at night asleep during the day. it gets to you after awhile.
really really want to get into a game studio and do work.
listening to the raveonettes... great music!
Great portrait, I like the colors and textures you painted it with.
this is some of my really experimental stuff using wireframes built in maya and a circle round brush in ps not sure where this is going but its fun to do.
i feel its up the alley of fine art. brainless expressions. Not a lot of thinking going into it. just intuitive creation.
Hey man, cool Africans! (the fish) You have a salt water tank as well?
I like your portrait, her eyes are nice. Keep up the good work!
i got into aquariums almost two years ago. we have 8 tanks in our house!
29 gallon salt water
75-gallon salt water
10 gallon saltwater
29 gallon fresh
10 gallon fresh
and a few more little nano tanks with shrimp gobies and corels
well my internal struggle is continuing
to scan or not to scan?
well here are the pros to scanning-
I can see the whole page all at the same time
i can get a better grasp of proportions on paper
im faster at layouts with paper.
i can do all the changes i want once i get it into photoshop.
difficult layouts can be made small then blown up in photoshop.
clean up of the scans
i dont really want lines in my art. Ive become more of a painter than a drawer
if i loose the progress ive made by going straight to the blank photoshop page...ill be pissed at myself.
well those are all i can think of right now...
i was doing the straight to digital stuff but i was always finding little bits that i didnt like about my work. mostly proportions and that i was still getting outlines rather than shapes... but now the lines are bigger blob lines.... trying to find that happy middle ground... its been difficult.
to add to the problems is that ive become more and more proficient at using 3d packages for both organic and geometric forms.
meshing everything together has been interesting to say the least.
has anyone else had this problem...?
i feel like i cant really stick to one way of working for very long.
i start learning new ways to do things even though im doing fine with the one way...
i guess im a dave mckean type artist rather than a Micheal Turner
sometimes things click for you and its good
sometimes things dont work for a long time and then bang they work.
sometimes they dont work ever
it has been four months since i graduated from college. things havent gone as planned. ive been working with mentally challenged people for almost eight months. eight more months than i ever wanted to.
i know that some people go to school to do what i do and they really enjoy helping these people but it isnt for me. its depressing because they only get worse. worse behaviors everyday.
but ive made huge strides in my work. ive learned more since graduating than i ever did in school.
when i land the job i want, it will be because ive earned it.
listening to the kinks and pinback today.
Hey roidvoid been awhile since I last visited, really nice girl sketches. Hey man I feel you about the jobs stuff, I've graduated since December and still haven't found what I wanted ether. I also know how you feel about having to work with MMRD, my mother has been doing that for more then 15yrs. It's a tough job more then what people think. Also man don't worry about the star system, don't let it bug you. A lot of people take it to serious. Just keep doing what your doing, the only real crit I can say is to get some more refined pieces in here. Anyways man I'll keep checking on your progress.
good to see the amount of effort you are putting in mate, its really good to see that your trying a bunch of different things as well, cheers for sharing.
Hey man, cool SB! Some real emprovement in you drawings!! Heating UP!
some random new stuff
ive got all worts of things coming together right now. hopefully i can address some of my problems ive had in the past.
some copies in here as well can you recognize them? and my first zbrush woman! effed up the head but there is some good stuff in the mid section.
Cool sketchbook, I like your female figures.
Please visit my sketchbook.
Wow roid you have an impressive array of skills, I especially like those character designs. How long have you been doing digital painting? Anything you could suggest to a complete noob at digital painting?
thanks mchammer lol
ive been painting with my tablet for a little over a year now. the only thing that can make you better is practice.
learn how to personalize the settings of your tablet
learn the programs
and find your own style.
what works for someone else probably wont work for you. minds think differently.
there are so many clones out there and you dont want to be one.
Yea color to me right now is intimidating, but I am taking courses on digital imaging in college right now so I know I'll be eventually getting into that soon after I pick up a tablet. But damn so many of them are too expensive! Anyways keep up the good work & thanks for the encouragement! I really love your landscape works btw.
