Been lurking for a little while here and I finally decided to start posting some of my stuff. I just recently learned (at least some of the basics) photoshop and want to get better at my technique.
I have really taken a liking to the techniques of guys like Sparth, Vyle, and barontieri, and am sort of trying to teach myself their technique (with my own interpretations of course ). So far it has been slow going... I bought Vyles dvd off of Gnomon and have learned a great deal from it. I'm trying to figure out how to apply his process to characters though and am hitting a wall somewhat. My main area of interest in painting is fantasy (more specifically fantasy based on the 2nd and 3rd crusades era on earth, HarnWorld is my favorite setting for all you RPers out there )
So anyways, greeting to all of you!
This first one I copied from a picture from the movies Kingdom of Heaven, it was basically my "learn photoshop" piece. Just practice to learn the basic ins and outs of the program...
This is my first attempt at speed painting, again copied from a KoH picture, 45 min. Just using the round brush, just to see how it would look like that, just keeping it simple for now.
This is an original I did for a commision for a HarnWorld book coming out sometime in the future, its supposed of the cityguards in the foreground, I took a little inspiration from a trip to New York a few years and I noticed these cops hanging out around ground zero shooting the shit while everyone was busy around them.
The HarnWorld guys liked it, but to be honest I'm not 100% happy with it, I feel like some of the details became lost in this painting, and being new to photoshop I didn't know how make them pop more..
Please! all you vets out there any comments or critiques are welcomed!
Edit: fixed the size of the second pic

Hello Marc and welcome to the community!
Looks like you have a good start here, I really like how you rendered those medieval houses. Keep at it!
