an old piece, reworked the values, colors, shapes, etc
it came out much better, but i still feel that it lacks some things, alot of things..
some people can draw random sketches in 10 minutes and it will turn into gold
yet this piece feels barely silver or even worse iron
please tell me anything thats wrong with this piece, thank you!
It is done!
Let's see...Her face doesn't look right. I think it's because her right eye turns towards us too much. Makes it look like there's a gap between her nose and her right eye. Hmm, faces I'm still learning so... Her right forearm also seems a bit too long.
Now, one thing I definitely think is an issue...is her hair. When I look at her face, I think she has short hair to start. Only when I go "what is that blond mass coming out of her wings? oh wait....follow it...oh I guess she has long hair, but short in the front?"
This wouldn't be a problem, but one of her wings completely obscures a good portion of this hair flow. By the time it's on the left side, it just looks out of place and distracts from the pretty wings. I would either have the hair falling down loosely near her side, or just short. Maybe you could even move that foreground bird around too.
get ref for those birds. i'd use some dif colors in their shadows and make em more contrasty so that they pop from the WHITE clothes and WHITE wings!
white is really reflective, so add some more color variation everywhere. it'll be fun, and it'll make ur piece more exciting.
arm anatomy looks off
tangents with bracelet/breast
beak/feather (on the bottom)
feather and hair (two of them)
her wings are bothering me a bit- many renditions of angels don't account for the skeletal structure of a birds wing -containing equivalents of a human shoulder, elbow, hand. Right now, it looks like she has a shoulder and hand elements in her wing, but her wings can't really fold without that elbow.
But anyways, its a beautiful concept/anime style piece which is nicely rendered. Keep up the nice work.
here's the update, changed a few things
earendil - yes,yes her forearm is too long
made a few adjustments to made it look better, and the hair thing, its been bothering me too, in the composition i wanted to put both the hair and the wings, but the hair and the wing sorta kill eachother, another person has commented on this too, so i added some more hair to bridge the gap in the wings, dont know how good it works though
afterthought - white is very reflective
a very helpful advice, i tried to add some hues on the whites, tweaked shadow abit
polished the birds abit, and yea,i didnt do any refs on the birds...
softocean - i stil dont understand about the elbow stuff, maybe the way the wings are bent?
added a detail view, 100% size
The nose is WAY too close to the red eye.
Even if you don't want the wings to be anatomically accurate bird wings, they still need another joint. Remember, all vertebrate wings (bird, bat, pterosaur) are modified arms.
