Hey Miles ! Cool Traditional stuff ;D I love your last 5 week pose ! :)
Saw your amazing art and your age, I realized I did everything wrong, I'm 20 now and I'm kinda like you were in your 15-16.. I feel bad
phantastic! simply amazing and utterly inspiring collection of sketches. *__*
Very cool man, quality pencil =) I like this one most - http://i.imgur.com/TrUpM.jpg
*just another fan boy post... (I have nothing to offer except for some poor praise). That 5 week pose.... I want his chest hair on me... it is so real. no, but in all seriousness, well done and well designed. Keep it up! His right foot where the light is hitting... looks a bit strange to me. I don't know why. But then I second guess myself and think it looks fine because those planes are being pushed so much on the foot. looks amazing but then you get to the big toe and its just flooded with light (with the exception to falloff) and looks smushed. Perhaps the lack of planes or harsh degree change in value, compared with the extreme explanation on the same foot where you are really working those planes is hurting the design. But hey, it's a freaking toe and can barely be seen and probably shouldn't be analyzed or given the amount of attention that I'm giving it. The rest looks great (even that big toe looks good compared to my drawings:).
Mind giving some insight into how you approach these studies as I'm just in awe how far you can push these. Never tried pushing something this far but I'm sure with the right guidance I will learn! Again, WELL DONE.
I really love the 5 week pose drawing. can you tell me why some areas look so white on his body? is that chalk?
brilliant work. Just stunning. especiallxy like this sketch
insanely good drawings, dude!
great drawings! love the raining cloud behind the figure x)
Great looking figure drawing man! real nice work.
Time to update this bad boy!
Long figure poses from school first, the woman is 5 days and the man is 8. charcoal and chalk on toned paper, approx 60cm tall
Some stuff I made for Applibot, mixed feelings about these, however I just finished up a new set which I'm super excited to share as soon as I can! These are kind of old
Lastly, my final cast drawing in chalk and charcoal, onto oil painting now. This took a stupid amount of time, probably like 150-170 hours
Thanks a lot everyone! Much love
Your sketchbook has been such an inspiration to me! Would you say the atelier has played a large part in the improvement in your work? As always, I can’t wait for your next update they never fail to motivate! :)
My god, 170 hours for the last drawing ? Jeez. I always thought I've worked a long time on a drawing when I spend more than 10 hours on it. The result is so damn good though. Anyway, your art is really impressive. I'm just sometimes a little bothered by some "weird" things you draw but I guess it's part of your artistic universe.
In 2007, when you started this topic, I believe I did the same on another forum. Back then I think I drew a little better than you did. But when I see what you're drawing now: WOW. You are a million miles away from my current level. The difference between you and me is: 5 years during which I did absolutely nothing and you instead worked your ass off and kept drawing. Anyway, this whole topic had the effect of a motivational bomb on me. And for this I'd just like to say: Thanks.
I'll meet you in 5 years to compare our levels once again :D
Do you use photoreferences for your sketchbook pages? (The girl with the wings on her head is my absolute favourite)
Really enjoy looking through your sketchbook, love to see your updates in the future.
damn!!!! the last update! holy shit those figures are fucking perfect!! excuse the french, but holy crap dude! i am soo envious of those skills!
Gorgeous. You've been such an inspiration to me for years~
The only thing I can suggest is to try varying women's faces some more, or try more ethnicities.
Keep it up. I look forward to all your updates. <3
Aww I love the Pirate ghoul, so awesome =) Great work man =)
killing it. love that first galaxy saga illustration.
Holy shit dude, I've just went through your sketchbook and I can't believe you're only like, 19!!! You're crazy dude, and all the new pieces are amazing. You're waaaaay out of my league so I can't critique a single thing considering I can't even find flaws in you're work. Jeeze man, absolutely wonderful stuff.
Fantastic work, love the life drawings. stunning!
That pencil portrait of that old king-type character tickles my art parts in all the right places. You're truly admirable and inspirational!
Great skill here. Keep up the good work...
The Galaxy Saga paintings seem flat for some reason. Your chalk and charcoal drawings are amazing.
Looking forward to more, happy holidays. :)
lovely traditional stuff mate!
Great Scott Marty these are epic!
I love your art. It is not like those hipper realistic folks. I can see your brushwork and your lines, I like it so much. Could you please take a look to my SB and give me some tips to improve? I want to paint from imagination, but I still can't I don't know why.
Hey man, I stumbled upon one of your recent works today and I totally forgot that I visited your sketchbook 3 years ago. Went through all your pages here(had some time today) and I gotta say, amazing progress over the years! Your hard work def. paid off. BTW, this is my fave work of yours http://miles-johnston.deviantart.com...tion-312546128. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your awesome works in the next couple of years. You're really an inspiration :) Cheers!
Sketches soon! I know it says sketchbook and I just update this like an extension of other galleries, I will try to fix that soon..
for now, two more pieces for Applibot
And two more pencil pages
There you go! Much love thanks for looking
Always a great source of inspiration and motivation! I've learnt a lot from looking at your work! Both the traditional and digital stuff!
Keep it up!
